Hunted opening weekend but haven't made it back up since. Headed up Wednesday after work for 4 days. Hopefully the rut action has picked up and we can call something in to bow range. Got a couple bulls showing up on a wallow but I will settle for any legal elk.

In the area we hunt we have not heard or seen an elk in person. I did get a couple bulls showing up on our trail camera at our wallow but no cows with either of them. Only had cows on the trail camera once in the last two weeks. Hopefully as it cools down in the next couple weeks the action...
Back to my OTC units for deer and elk for me. I did draw an archery Antelope tag in unit 46-1 though. Unfortunately it is the last two weeks of archery elk season so unless I get super lucky and fill my tag early then I will be attempting to fill my speed goat tag in the evenings during the week.
Thanks for the story Paul! Only been hunting elk two seasons so far and have yet to have a successful call in. Stories like this keep the excitement up. Hopefully this year I can make some magic happen.
I love my crispi Nevadas but I agree with the quality socks and insoles. Still trying to find the right sock and planning on going with a set of super feet insoles

I used them on one hike last year. Bought some inexpensive ones from Walmart and one of them buckled on the way down a steep hill. Never replaced them last year but I definitely noticed a difference. Planning on getting a nicer pair this year.

Is it a male or female- I have always liked the name Bramble. We have a Springer Spaniel named Penny and my parents have her sister and named her Millie

I bought a pair of non insulated a few months ago. I wear a midweight wool sock with them, mostly because I have a small foot and the smallest mens size was still a hair too big for me, and my feet got pretty warm in them the couple times I've used them. My feet run pretty warm anyways but I...
I can't imagine being out without my binos. I would feel naked without them. I almost always shoot my bow with them on so it feels weird to not shoot with them on.

Got a big kick out of this post haha. Definitely in the same boat with trying to find someone that has the same times to hunt and the same Outlook of how to hunt. I feel a lot of the time that I am the weak link when it comes to schedule though so I don't get too picky.

I just bought a pair of non insulated Nevadas a few months ago and so far they have been plenty warm. I can't imagine how hot my feet would get in the insulated ones. Then again my feet run pretty warm anyways.

Awesome, thanks for the tips guys. I am excited to start some scouting in August before my hunt opens. I don't have very high expectations but am stoked to give it a shot.

I'll be spot and stalking for the most part. Don't have a blind plus that just seems like boring as all get out to sit the same spot for hours on end.

Been lurking here for a few weeks and finally decided to make a post. I just put in for an Unlimited Archery Tag in Idaho. The unit I put in for is only a 15-20 minute drive from my house and had a 30% success rate last year. I figured for an archery tag that was decent success rate. Any...
