I have shot thousands of 180gr cast WFN through my G20. Proper sizing and lube in the key. Sized Too small or too poor a lube and you’ll get deposits. The Glock has polygonal rifling which is the “concern”.
2018 Ford Expedition Max. Very usable 3rd row and stowage areas. Tows my 6200# boat without issue. Quiet and comfortable. Has been reasonably reliable. I have about 118k miles so far
Agree with others that mid size 3rd row SUVs are a compromise.
I’d be looking at a new/used Lexus GX series or...
I shoot a lot of their 300 BLK stuff with the 110 VMax. In 2 of my rifles it’s right at MOA. In my other it’s 1.5 MOA. Good enough for me. The ES was in the 60’s and SD was 15-18 for the samples I shot.
I bought a Ridgeline Ti in 308 when they first came out. Bedded a 20 MOA rail on the top and threw on my VX6 3-18 on it. Even with break in and hand loading best I could reasonably reproduce was 1.5 MOA at 100-300 yards. I called CA, got a return call and they swapped on a new barrel and back in...
I'm sighted in at 100 yards. If a deer I hold at the top of the back if 200 yards. But thats a rare shot for me. I wouldnt shoot it at game more than 200 yards.
I love the 300 BLK. Where it shines is in 2 areas.
1. Barrel length being the same, it will have more energy than 223/556. Short barrels are cool and easy to move around. Think supers with 110-125gr fodder.
2. Subsonic
My personal fave is a Sig AR "pistol" ive added a larger 12" handguard to...
I'd recommend Aero Precision matched upper/lower and use their compatible parts and use a Proof Carbon barrel. Yes you can build for cheaper. No "warranty" as a whole.
I had to send in a 308 that didn't have the accuracy that I had hoped for. They rebarreled it without issue and has shot 3/4 MOA since.
I have no doubt theyll take care of you. Keep us up to date.
I wonder if the FFT stocks need a bit more meat in the pillar areas.
Nothing wrong with a 150-165gr Partition to do the work you described. If wanting an excuse for a new rifle, I'd do the 300 WM in a moderate (7-8#) rifle of the two you listed.
If open to different cartridges, perhaps the 7mm PRC would be a good choice.
I have several Trijicon RMR variety after using some of the lesser ones from Vortex, Bushnell, Burris. I always come back to the RMR. I do have a Leupold DeltaPoint that sits onto of one of my 41 Mags that I launch heavies out of with stiff loads of 296 and 11FS that has held up well.
MY BX4's are very good.
Naturally we will defend our purchase decisions and promote a good product if it is indeed good in our personal experience. I had looked at several in the under $500 range and decided on the Leupolds because of brand experience and I felt they looked better in person...
As everyone has eluded to, you need to lube your inside case neck. I’ve gone to Hornady One shot and imperial size wax. I have some older wooden midway charge blocks (c.1980’s) and spray the cases with one shot. A touch of imperial size wax and they’re slicker than snot and don’t have any...
Any quality hunting bullet from 160-175gr will suit you well and work in your rifle with its twist rate. Pick your poison, develop a load and go to town.
I have not used the monometals in 45/70. I prefer cast. Everyone gets hung up on "Hard" cast. Not needed. I prefer 300-420gr wt class. WFNGC design 50/50 pure and COWW. Ignite over healthy dose of 3031 or Varget.
Current go to is a 350gr WFNGC with 50gr 3031. That nets me a velocity of 1890 fps...
For whatever reason, I never could get my 7mm-08 to shoot the 140 weight class to my liking (Sub MOA for 5 shots out to 300 yards). I do run 120gr Nosler BT at 3100 FPS out of a 22" Proof barrel that is 1/2 MOA out to 300 Yards if I do my part.
If I was going to start load development again on...
CFE Pistol would work well for you in the calibers listed if wanting a newer powder. Otherwise I love W-231.
W-296 and 11FS (a "newer and improved" 296 if you will) in my magnums with jacketed
#9 with cast in my revolvers.
