Anyone running 6x fixed scopes for most hunting?

Never had a straight 6x. My first scope back in 1963 was a Leupold 4x, still use it. I do have numerous variables now, and several of their little 2.5x scout scopes. I do find the low power a bit limiting for target work at 100 yards and beyond, but now at age 74 it's still much better than...

    Who runs a Weaver K6?

Back in 1963, fresh out of high school, I wanted a scope on my Win 70 featherweight. I did not know much and was looking at a Weaver K4 when the dealer handed me a Leupold 4x. I told him to put the K4 back and we mounted the Leupold in a Weaver pivot mount, so I could use the open sights if I...

    Close quarters bear gun?

I have a early, first year Marlin Guide gun, ported barrel, and yes it is loud. I have an extended pitcnanny rail from XS sight systems. https://www.xssights.com/Products.aspx?CAT=8282 That is topped with one of the Leupold scout scopes, fixed 2.5 power . I guess some of the compact red dot...

Case or no case on spotter

I have the Kowa stay on case on my TSN 664. I have a qd Manfrotto 200 plate to use on an adaptor on my tripod, and another adaptor on my bench rest scope clamp mount, so i can switch from either very quickly and keep wear on the mounting thread on the scope to nothing. I did remove the flap...

New Meopta Carbon Tripod - Any Experience

Looking at Meopta's website the only tripod shown is made by Manfrotto, still looks like a fair deal. That fluid head looks very familiar, like the one on my Manfrotto

    Straight vs Angles spotter

I find target acquisition easier with a straight. For viewing for more than a few minutes I prefer the angled, much better on my neck and shoulders, especially if the scope is set up low.

Case or no case on spotter

I'll concede the bulk, and it is a hassel to unzip objective end cover and then to unzip, fold back and clip eyepiece cover out of the way, and getting to focus is not as easy as with a naked scope, but I choose to deal with all that for the protection, To each his own!

Case or no case on spotter

I have a case on my Kowa TSN82 sv. In addition to protection it somewhat hides the fact that it is a scope.

    Kowa 602 vs 662

I just got a Kowa 664, the one with the HD or fluorite glass. Found it online via ebay from a dealer at $666 for the body only. I have seen them here at some dealers over 1000. Fantastic scope with the 27x long eye relief eyepiece.

    Who runs a Weaver K6?

I graduated high school back in '63. Dad won a Win 70 featherweight in 30-06 in a sales contest and it was my present. I wanted a scope so we went down to the local gun shop. I was thinking a K 4 until the owner handed me a fixed power Leupold. I handed the Weaver back and said I'll take...

    Tripod recommendations

I have a Manfrotto 190go carbon fiber tripod, 4section legs that I picked up used for about half price at Adorama. I put a Manfrotto 550ah fluid video head on it and it's relatively light and the video head gives smooth movement. My first tripod was a cheapie, via a USAF bx over in Turkey...
