    Sometimes it helps to crisscross them when you don’t have the bag though. Reversing any of them would ruin the ability to cross them for certain very awkwardly shaped loads. I’ve had to do that more than once.

    I think you’d have to trim the bottom of the k4 stays to make them closer to the diameter and shape of the k3 tubular design. I’m sure it *could* be done, but I’m also sure it would severely weaken the stays.

    It did for me. Sold my K3 on here. I didn’t have slipping issues until it was 60+lbs in the pack. But got the K4 after debating it a while. I’ve had no issues at all.
