    Evening shots

Good points. I have no problem hiking in in the dark in the morning, but do percieve it differently in the dark of night. Terrain and exhaustion comes into play a lot with this in my thought process. Plus if a mtn lion wants to eat me, theyre gonna do so daylight or not lol. In more familiar...

    Evening shots

I think i'd pick coming off the mountain rather than put myself in that situation. Some of you have more cojones than I if you'd hike 5 miles after dark, by yourself. When i mean solo, i mean no one around at all.

    Evening shots

So light is drawing to a close and you have sights on a bear. I've heard this discussed to death with deer. However, a bear being a potentially wounded predator, how late are you willing to go look for the bear if youre solo? I'd imagine spoilage is more of an issue with them due to being...

Mid life crisis career change… Remote jobs?

I know im way late to the party, but sometimes its a matter of perspective. I'm from North Canton area. So i know what youre saying about Columbus (and you didnt say it, but Cinci as well). However... having moved to metros of Texas, Cinci/Columbus look like conservative bastions by comparison...

    Nm/AZ bear guide?

PM replied to. In texas. The life insurance gets me hunting usually, but I apparently have to up the ante for bear haha. More likely I'm gonna die being run off the road in texas than eaten by a bear anyways lol.

    Nm/AZ bear guide?

Wife doesnt want me hunting alone for bears anymore now that I've got 2 kids. She suggested I go guided. I prefer hunting alone as it's usually my only time I dont take my oldest son along. Soon that'll change as we before I know it when hes old enough. So if anyone wants to pm to either A.)...

    High/Front ankle pain

What do you mean by front of ankle? The top of the joint? Where the shin meets? Top of foot at joint? All of the above?

    Danner Pronghorn?

I like them, pretty breathable which is important for me. For reference, in 0 degrees I wore these with some wool boot socks and was comfortable. YMMV. However I wanted a high ankle boot that I could feel the terrain... kind of like driving a car that doesnt have as much feedback in drive feel...

    Any 2 mile runners here

Make sure he takes his recovery for his calf seriously. I hated doing my stretches and such anytime I had recovery for an injury. Now all my muscles work further than my achilles/calf will ever allow. If I hurt it, it takes months of recovery now. Havent had to get surgery luckily, but if I'm...

Thoughts on northern cali? Perks vs it being commiefornia

Dang that's gorgeous. I love the land there. Based on my work, my other options are super-lib places like seattle or NYC, or less so in Tempe/Pheonix AZ, maybe colorado (which is becoming California #2 in some places, but a lot prettier and more outdoors opportunity than Houston). Had not heard...

Thoughts on northern cali? Perks vs it being commiefornia

TBH, I'm in Houston TX now and aside from house prices, it's a mini california with less hunting opportunity. The sam houston is there and I dont mind hog hunting it, but 99% of the time there it's taking the bow/rifle for a walk. Almost all hunting is private/day hunts. Came here from Ohio...

Thoughts on northern cali? Perks vs it being commiefornia

I've been considering where I could work versus hunting benefits and all, and Cali public land is appealing. Don't really want to live in city but are the natural perks offset entirely by their governance?
