    Scope for 375 Ruger

I picked up a 375 Ruger and am now looking for a scope. Figure it'll be used on a variety of game in a variety of terrain. I do want to apologize ahead of time for the length. The requirements are simple: reliability (both zero retention and dialing), able to handle the 375 Ruger’s recoil and...

Kuiu Pro Bush Pants - First Impressions

Just received my Kuiu Pro Bush pants and here are some first impressions. My package came in less than pristine shape which wound up being a great opportunity to see how it handles slices. Package came delivered with a slice through the outer package and the Kuiu product package. Zero damage...

    Any experience with Wrangler WorkWear?

Does anyone have any in-field experience with the Wrangler WorkWear pants line? I'm asking since I grabbed a pair of the Technician pants and they seem to be fairly decent especially for the price. Spent half a day scouting 5 miles of established Coues trails in the mountains with about 2K...

    PSA - Boot Waterproof Check

Just wanted to give folks a reminder to verify that their boots are still waterproof. It's easier to deal with it now than right before a big hunt. Find a completely dry flat spot. Remove the soles from your boots and place the boots on the flat spot. Completely fill them up. Look for any signs...

    New Gun On The Way

Sucks when you pretty much have all your bases covered yet want a new firearm. I said the hell with it and just ordered a Springfield XD-M Elite in 10mm. My "rationale" for grabbing it was I could take it with me while hunting black bear in AZ as well as when hunting solo near our southern...

    ABLR Minimum Velocity

Nosler says the ABLR will reliably expand down to 1350 fps. Their marketing photo looks pretty. 1350 FPS3000 FPS Has anyone actually pushed the envelope to see how accurate this is? Looks "better" than what Federal shows for their Terminal Ascent line (now running in my 30-06 and 308 Win with...

    Bear skull mount ideas

Looked at previous skull mount posts but didn’t find much that interested me. The hard part is that I don’t know what I want. I’m doing a life size mount on one bear and a rug on another (would have done life size as well but domestic harmony dictates the rug). I’m unsure what to do with the...

    Rifle scope price increases

Just noticed that the Vortex Razor LHT prices have gone up a lot very recently. Not too long ago you could get them from about $750-$1000. Now they are going for just under $1000-$1300+. No plans on buying one but a 30%+ price increase over the short term is a bit much. Any one else seeing...

    Tips for removing burrs

I have a Kuiu Peloton shirt and a pair of Kryptek Tora pants that are full of burrs. The burrs are not wanting to be removed. Manually removing them is sort of working but is slow. A lint roller was a waste of time. Dog brush works ok but still leaves quite a bit behind. Any other suggestions?

Quick question about the Kimber Hunter Pro Desolve in 280 AI. Is the twist rate really 1:10? The regular Hunter is 1:9 which is why I am asking.

Visualization - Low Cost vs Quality Bag

Was putting away my MegaLite and noticed that I still have my down Slumberjack 20. Figured I’d take a couple photos to show the difference. All bags are hung in a closet when not in use. Initially I was stoked to try the SJ bag. But each time I took it out, I’d be soaked and cold (no matter the...

WM Bag - Inadvertent Waterproof Tests

During a recent black bear hunt, and previous scouting trips, in AZ, I inadvertently had the opportunity to test the waterproofness of WM's MegaLite sleeping bag. First things first. The MegaLite uses the Extreme Lite material for its shell. This is their least waterproof shell material. While...

Packing meat out in the rain

I have a question about packing meat out when it is raining. This is not a common occurrence for me here in AZ. When it is raining, what should be done to protect the meat during the pack out? This includes while it is on your back as well as hopefully hanging in a tree. Any different...
