I would build a good layering system versus buying a super warm out layer. It will be more versatile and all of the hunting specific warmer pieces are overpriced for the materials they use.
Down is where its at but I see others recommending synthetic insulation jackets as well. If you do decide to go that route make sure it is a jacket that uses continuous filament insulation. Give this a read:

Haven’t used any for hunting but other outdoor endeavors. I’d recommend nunutak, OR refuge pants, MontBell thermawrap UL, or the new Arc’teryx proton pants.
Ferrosi and voodoo are almost exactly the same. Supposedly the weave on the voodoo is supposed to make it breathe better. I tried them on in store and didn’t feel like there was enough of a difference to justify buying them. Performance in the field may be a different store but I doubt it...
Prana stretch Zion are not a good pant for warm weather active hunts. They run warm and aren’t super breathable. Check out the outdoor research ferrosi and the Arc’teryx gamma LT or similar pats in the 7-11 oz range. The main thing is for more Breathability/less weight you are sacrificing...
For someone looking for warm boot covers for stand hunting what would you guys recommend? I'm having the same issues as I don't own any insulated boots. Don't want to shell out the 100-200 for an entry level insulated boot. Would rather get a boot cover and save up for some higher end boots.
Fjallraven Vidda pro trousers. Most rugged pants I’ve ever worn. They’re g1000(waxed canvas blend) with reinforcement. They aren’t quiet though, that’s for sure.
Decided to take up archery hunting this year. I've been using hand me down camos from my brother up to this point but its starting to get chilly. I'm from MO and we all know what midwest weather is like. For now I will predominantly be hunting whitetail out of stands but may do some duck hunting...
