I've used the women's MR Metcalf for the last 8 years. Multiple elk, 12 mule deer, a couple of speed goats and Mirriams turkeys later it's still going. I just power wash the blood off each winter and we go again. I've tried pretty hard not to rip the shoulder straps, I think that we might go...
Im up the mountain from you and also backpack turkey hunt. I use a Remington 870 express in 20 ga with a youth plastic stock on it. Kicks much worse than my 300 win mag shooting 3" tss but patterns awesome out to 60 yards, with a long beard X turkey choke. I run a Winchester X shell for my first...
I limit my 18" barrel to 400 or less, usually 300 or less. But I'm a person who enjoys a huge margin for error when shooting at living things. When I reach past that I'm running a 22" seekins havak element in 300 win on elk or the same in 6.5 PRC for lopes and mule deer. But that shorty 308 does...
The stock itself is 3.85 lbs according to Grayboes website. You can read more here: www.grayboe.com/products/ridgeback
Not a backcountry stock. Phenomenal ergos for a range gun or hunting from a blind, truck etc.
The rifle it came off of was the first generation Bergara Premier Approach. It has a number 6 contour barrel. The current version of that rifle has a 5.5 contour barrel. Just giving you that information in case you want to contact Bergara. That's all the information I have.
I've run a suppressed .308, both 16.5" and 18" barrels, TBAC ultra9 gen 1 can, for years hunting elk, black bear and mule deer. It's fantastic, wouldn't change a thing. I do prefer the 18" barrel for a bit better velocity. I have a 21" 6.5 PRC (Seekins Havak Element) that I've been running the...
I had 4 points last year and didn't draw 88. Trying again this year with 5, about to punch the button. With the number of pronghorn dying this winter in the northwest corner and up in Wyoming it will be interesting to see what point creep is gonna do.
3 full boxes + additional 17 rounds (so 77 rounds) of federal premium factory ammo loaded with 215 gr Berger OTM. Sold the rifle so parting with these. $250 shipped to the lower 48.
I have two of their 1" Torics 3-15x44 and the 30mm 4-20×50. I was looking at this one but can't justify the extra weight for no increase in magnification over the 1" version. A 30 mm tube just doesn't do much for me on its own. Interested to hear what you think. Aside from the weight they are...
Never had an issue. I run up to 215 bergers on my 300s and they stabilize just fine. One of the great things about 30 cals is the wide range of bullet weights that seem to stabilize in the 1 in 10 rifles IMHO.
As far as knocking elk down at 200, my husband runs 150 grain partitions in a 270 win...
