I bought a pair of schnees this year and really like them. Hiked lots of miles in tough terrain, some with hauling elk quarters. They actually have some ankle support. Just make sure you treat the leather.
I put a wyatt's box in my 700 action, let's you seat out quite a bit further. My load is 200 gr eldx with 94 gr of Retumbo @ 3280. I've also had good luck with 200 gr partitions with 87.5 gr of 7828.
Thanks for the info. I have hunted one of those units for years and it has consistently gone downhill. Last year was the worst I've seen as far as crowding, lack of rut activity and lack of general sign. Need to do this with rifle as well to make much of an impact.
It could be worth it, some odds are much better, sometimes the special has worse odds, really need to study the charts. Tougher to justify with the way they are doing the draw this year though.
I've had decent results so far. 3 bulls over 200 yds with 200 gr out of a 300 RUM at around 3300, they seem pretty devastating so far and similar performance to an accubond from my experience. Also killed 2 antelope this year with 110 gr out of a .2506 at around 3100 with good results.
