6.5 cm T3X lite (blued) with Nightforce NXS 2.5-10x42 Nightforce rings/rail and a wildcat stock. Shot 143 eldx and 140 abs well. Went with a little heavier scope after hearing about reliability issues with others on the market. Very reliable. Held zero beautifully after being knocked around in...
I ended up with the Granite 0g for a little more flex over the pros. Have about 20 miles on them. Breaking in nicely. Hoping the sole gets a bit more flex.
I haven’t ran the Scarpa’s myself.
I’m very interested in these boots but would like some input from y’all. Haven’t been able to find much for existing reviews. I’ll be using them for hunting the alpine in AK (mostly southeast with one northern trip a year).
I’ve got a season on some Simms flyweights and love them. Light weight, good support, vibram sole is grippy, comfortable. 10+ Mile days, no complaints.
Can’t speak for especially heavy loads but I wouldn’t hesitate to use them for what you’re talking about.
To speak to their warranty and customer service:
My buddy had a part break on one of their rifles (not a fieldcraft). It was at least 5 years old and he admitted to not be the first owner. They sent a replacement part immediately and only asked the broken part to be returned for analysis.
I’m...
Guess it’s time to snatch up a fieldcraft in 30-06.
I’ve been kicking around the idea of buying a new T3X 06’ and having a gunsmith throw on a .280ai barrel but it looks like they might have some COAL issues with the heavier bullets..
When I spoke to them they had no plans on resuming development. I believe they’re even dropping some of the less popular rounds like the 7mm-08.
I thought I had it all figured out when I heard they had a .280ai in the works... maybe we’ll see one in a few years.
I have family in Wrangell so getting to the Etolin shore would be a cheap/easy option. Might have to consider chartering a float plane though. Any shore to alpine hunt in SEAK is TOUGH. Add a 500# pack out and they turn insane.
Went to POW this year for the first time. I would avoid mid October! Very slow for me but still enjoyed the island and went home with some meat....
Alaska Airlines to Ketchikan then Island Air express to Klawock. Round trip from KTN to AKW is around 400. Car rental around $100 a day. Look into...
I’ve had similar experience, Sleorna. Slow, careful movement and staying alert. Seems like only a few Second window to make it happen before they disappear into the Tongass.
rattle bag worked once for me, sitting on the edge of a muskeg.
+1 I put in for 2020. Fingers crossed. ADF&G put out a nice write up with success rates and behavior etc.
