Home Depot previously gave a discount with the display of any military ID but now they seem to want me to jump through hoops and no one in Fairbanks store seems to have the complete story. Have any of you mastered their Vets program?
Like the digital world, I'm a generation or two behind, but I didn't see any suggestions for a time-tested rifle/action with a long history of reliability ala Mauser type, Almost all of the scopes suggested would make Hubble proud.
But my young friends that own the LGS are enjoying all the $$$$$.
Larry Bartlett is on board here and his site is Pristine Ventures. I've not used Larry's services but I've met several of his satisfied clients. His boats are his design and first class. If I were younger, I'd be buying one.
Just a couple quick thoughts from 60 years of moose hunting experience:
At this time, I'd look more toward western Alaska as we've had a couple bad winters and we have predators galore.
If I were looking to do a float hunt, I'd talk to Larry Bartlett as I've met several of his hunters in the...
You may find a hunt for mountain caribou but most of the barren ground caribou herds are gone. This site is one of your better choices to search for ideas to hunt a rapidly dwindling resource. Before long, I expect to hear cries to put caribou on the endangered species list.
The tunnel tents work fine but I moved up to a Black Label Tarra and it is rugged. Friends are taking it to Kodiak where they ruined two Cabelas dome tents on the last trip. My Tarra has weathered winds that were measured at 114mph in a close by village where it blew houses off the foundations...
Be sure a members share doesn't transfer to his family upon the members death without consent of other members. Members family should not have access to the cabin without member present.
I have a NIB SWFA SS 6x42 MQ that I would trade for a Trijicon TR21G. That's a 1-4 power with green post triangle reticle with 1" tube.
I know it's a long shot but gotta try.
I'm trying to think of the brand of hip boots you wear in first pic. They ceased production in the late 80s and we've never had a hip boot that good since.
Back then a lot of our hunting was done in hip boots with a rain coat that came down over the hip boot tops....no goretex then.
I spent a quarter century in that area and further North as well as several hunts on AkPen and Kodiak. I tried various tents during those years but once I found the Hilleberg Black Labels [Mine is a Tarra] the search ended.
I've had/have 8-10 Kimber Rifles and had a very early 8400 that took some effort to get hunting accuracy.
My latest MA in 270 shoots .5 for 3 shots with 130 TTSX or 129 LRX.
The 84 M and 84L are my favorite hunting rifles as they fit me and the ergos are great.
These are a very light rifle...
Stay in this chat room and search old threads as there's a ton of information on this site.
Be aware that caribou herds across North America are suffering huge losses and I don't see an end to the decline.
I've been a member of the 40MCH management team for 20 years and we are discussing options for short term [this year] and will perhaps convene another international management conference to look at long term plans.
For 2024, I would guess the quota be greatly reduced in all zones but Zone 2. No...
