Soooo is there not a likelihood of drawing a hunt region with NO points? Is that the position I find myself [emoji52]

My buddy went up to the north eastern part of the state this past fall on a pronghorn hunt. He was successful and also said they saw plenty of mulies in the public land areas they hunted. This was early October.
Got me looking into it and I’m considering applying for what appears to be an...
I don’t think there is truly any “magic” fix for the issues. I think the problems are more widespread for mulies as it is. The overall herd health in a lot of places isn’t the best and so much is working against them.
Given the amount of does I saw, I think that some places could stand to thin...
Having just come from Nebraska, all I saw were forkys. They have a 6” restriction but a forky is usually over 6” tall. It is Oct so the big ones could have all been in hiding too….
But coming from Texas I see benefit in having a size restriction. I don’t like it but there is good benefit in it...
So my son and I just wrapped up a week archery hunting mulies in the Pine Ridge management unit. Spent time in the Pine Ridge Recreation area, Oglala Grasslands and Fort Robinson area.
Beautiful scenery for sure, very unique. Fire has really messed up lots of area in the Pine Ridge Recreation...
I did this last year and might do it again this time around. It doesn’t add a ton of weight but obviously it seems like a lot more than others bring!

So this may seem like a weird question but for a 3-4 jaunt in the wilderness, how many changes of clothes and/or what changes of clothes do you bring? I mean we all want to pack light but is one set of clothes a few socks and couple pair of undies enough?

Like the title says, I wondering how the Hardscrabble jacket holds up in rain? Trying not to pack too much stuff on the trip so looking for a good dual purpose jacket.

So my son and I failed to draw in CO for bow season and Sept was kinda a tough month for me to even fit that hunt in regardless. Through this site, it seems the consensus is that I might find the hills of the Pine Ridge in NE to be less crowded during the October timeframe for bow hunting.
My...
Well I got my son and I entered as a group. Hated to do it that way since he is still a youth but I didn’t want to risk us not getting drawn for the same unit together. Knowing our luck he would get his first and I would get the second choice [emoji849].

This is correct as far as I know. You enter a code in first choice for PP only OR I can put in first choice and if unsuccessful I’ll get a PP. Then I can enter in for 2-4 draw and hope I get one of those. Since I’m only hunting archery the units I’m looking at typically have leftovers from first...
Yes I understand that aspect. The unit I’m looking at usually has leftovers so I’m not too worried about it. Worst case scenario is an OTC archery elk if I’m unsuccessful in second or third draw.

This is my first year to apply for a draw anywhere. I’m choosing CO just because it’s close to home and I have a decent knowledge of the GMUs I want to hunt.
I don’t think I quite understand how it works though. I’m choosing preference point only for my first choice and then using the three...
I do believe that will do that I need. I need to check my son’s leather stitching kit as I think that was part of it.

This is my dilemma because I know it needs to be strong since the compression straps will be used to help utilize the shelf on the pack to carry gun/meat etc. The compression straps will be holding the pack to the frame. So heavier thread should be better and proper sewing pattern to make it...
Hey guys, I have a FILBE pack on a MR NICE frame that I want/need to modify just a little. Mainly moving and adding some straps for compression and a couple of attach point buckles.
I don’t THINK I need a sewing machine for this stuff and I don’t necessarily want to invest in that for a one or...
