Each hunt lends to its own style. I've certainly carried my bow on my pack. That said, there are times when I am also carrying my bow in hand while not stalking, especially during overlapping small game seasons. Probably a 70/30 carry vs pack strap for me.

Fully agree - we focus a lot of the end result and tips to get us there, and less about the safety. Glad to hear you're situation ended up well in the end - I'm sure that was not a fun experience!
Wanted to share a eye opening experience from this season. While hiking through a creek bottom, I had an arrow pop out of my quiver, with the broadhead coming to rest on my upper thigh. If I had not heard it happen and stopped, or, had fallen in the process, things could have gone south quickly...
Really appreciate the insight here. I love using tyvex for both meat staging as well as placing around the animal, in case a slip occurs and I need a quick place to rest the meat. Had not considered the chemicals used.. Love the idea of cutting a Brewers grain sack sourced from a local Homebrew...
Ah that's a bummer - I could see how that could be an issue - pack rub.. Have the same situation with my rifle scope. Could use a bow sling to protect the string, but that just further complicates the dismount prep... Thanks for the follow up!

Not a tripod, but I'd saved this post for a trekking pole monopod style mount which seemed nice. Me, I simply rest the Binos on the trekking pole (sitting with pole at 45deg angle) for stabilization which works far better than nothing at all.
