How do you deal with suicide....

I am sorry to hear of the losses you’ve experienced. In my work as an emergency doc, I see a fair amount of suicide and suicide attempts. I have come to believe strongly in the mantra that you should treat everyone like they’re going through a crisis, because it will surprise you how many...

    Moving away from First Lite

I still like First Lite. Probably because I am from Idaho. The uncompahgre jacket is probably my favorite item, but do you have a fair amount of other brands as well. Guess it depends on the item.

    Dudley's Latest Rants

I like John Dudley. Never met him in person, but strikes me as a humble guy. I would place him somewhere near the top of the list with regards to expertise in Archery.

    Oxalate's?

Well, to be honest, my goal is closer to 2 L. But you got to start somewhere.

    Oxalate's?

So I ultimately chose not to drastically alter my diet, but just increase my free water intake. The more water that you drink the more dilute the urine and the less likely to crystallize calcium oxalate.

    Oxalate's?

Well, damn, I was going to tell you about my oxalate kidney stone. Hurt like hell, wished I was dead. To add insult to injury. The sob was only 2 mm. The only positive is, I got to miss an entire visit from the in-laws.

    22 Mag vs 17 HMR....does anyone choose a 22 Mag anymore?

I think that’s a fairly reasonable assessment. It can take out some pretty fat rockchucks I’ll tell ya.

    22 Mag vs 17 HMR....does anyone choose a 22 Mag anymore?

I may be one of the few that prefer the 17 HMR. I think it shoots better. Shot placement as always. I’m comfortable being the minority in that opinion

Do coyotes pose a real threat?

I find them to be a little more territorial around mating season and in early spring when they have pups in the den. Usually don’t have too much problems with them. I think all rules are off if they’re hungry though.

    Merino wool base layer

REI makes a set of merino unders that hold up well. Honestly, I prefer the smartwool, it’s worth the money in my opinion

New strings with a draw weight drop

I was thinking this as well. It would make sense if the boat was used at the top, and if it’s dry weight, it could lose some spring. If the bow is still in tune and shooting well, I would consider the draw weight to be negligible. I believe the power max comes with a range for its draw...

https://www.gohunt.com/content/skills/backpacking/brady-miller-s-2021-backcountry-hunting-food-list Check out this article. Lots of good ideas. Probably have seen it based on your mention of probars, green belly etc. but just in case.

    Satellite Communicator

I use the SPOT X as well. I wish I had an inreach because I use other garmin products GPS, fishfinder etc . I wish that spot interfaced better with a map that could be used on the phone like a inreach can. Everyone I know has an inreach so this tends to get more complicated on my end. The spotx...

    Fire on bolt closing

Glad no one got hurt. Agree with the comments on muzzle control. Glad you got it figured out. Or at least it seems that replacing the trigger would help from other commenters.

    Sitka Finally did it!

Good to know. I’ve been mixing and matching camo quite a bit. I would say I am very heat sensitive. On most warm weather hunts I wear kuiu Tiburon pants that have a more breathable fabric and large vents.
