    I've seen similar to this with mule deer. They are called cactus bucks. Because usually have real heavy main beams that go up with lots of short stubby points. But they have a pecker to go with no balls. That is quite a strange deer. Let bio do tests on it.

    Shooting sticks or bipod worth taking?

    Bipod is more steady for sure. shooting sticks are good to have and can double for using as a walking stick if you get in real steep rough terrain or crossing swift stream. I use either/or depending on terrain and obstacles.

    To buck or not to buck

    get both. we run across deer all the time while hunting elk. it only takes 30 minutes at the most to work a deer up (even a large mule buck). you only get one shot at life, make the most out of it.
