    First time marathon

Good suggestions, a couple more or echoed: 1. Learn to guage your workout intensity based on heartbeat. Watches with HRM are everywhere, learn to use one. Training without one is like driving without a speedometer. 2. With your extra time pre build up, start stretching and some...

2020 Field Report - Rifle Scopes

Nightforce NXS 2.5-10 X 42. Great for range, shot a cow elk @ 180 and discovered later the exposed windage dial had been moved going into/out of the scabbard on the horse. We did not recover the elk, and I learned a lesson about checking dials every time I touch the rifle. I'm considering...

No Dog, No Boat Duck Hunting

Whatever method you use, please be respectful to the game and only shoot in cases you're guaranteed to be able to retrieve a cripple. I have a hard time with people who kill or wound game hoping they might be able to bring it to hand, vs knowing they can. It's wanton waste.

    Finished her!

THAT's what a rifle is supposed to look like! I'm old, and these plastic toy guns (that I love) STILL don't look right.

    What gun to choose?

Choose the one you'll treasure most and think of your grandfather every time you touch it. You can buy practical guns the rest of your life, you'll only have one from him.

    Running Shoes

In order of importance: 1. Shoe type (zero drop, neutral, cushioning, stability, motion control) matching your needs. 2. Fit - many people buy shoes too small, or with toebox or heel that doesn't match their foot. 3. Brand - lots of good recommendations on here, but this is a lot like "what...

    Mid-Day Rut Movement

Deer Hunting = The daytime pursuit of nocturnal prey. While chasing, bucks can be anywhere at any time. But, it's their nature to travel at night, and I've found the edges of night to be most productive. That said, one spot I've hunted for 20 years rarely has bucks passing through before 9:30...

How to prevent accidental NF dialing?

NF NXS 2.5-10X42, learned the hard way how easy it is to move windage dial as rifle goes in/out of horse scabbard. The only thing worse than missing is NOT missing...Both elevation and windage now have big white lines to enable a quick check before shooting. Anybody got a suggestion on a...
