Pre-season! Let that salt work it’s way into the meat. A couple of hours on a rack seasoned does wonders. And as others have said, don’t pull straight out of the fridge and into the cast iron. Its a mistake I still make and I always regret it.
Never see enough about eating the damn things! So good, took the left piece and braised it for another 5 hours into a tomato red wine something. The other was a round steak which I devoured while it was still sizzling….
Part of the problem was the soil, it is very fine sand with little substance to it, so not a lot for the stakes to grab onto. I am very glad we were able to get it down before the rips got bad. I have a little sewing to do, most of the loops where you stake to actually ripped after rocking the...
Just getting back from a hell of a weekend and wanted to share what happened and get some input from y’all. Went on a weekend fishing trip on the deschutes river in Oregon with the boys and brought my 16x20 Rainer wall tent. We had winds forecasted, gusts of up to 30. No problem, It’s handled...

Brooks cascadia 12's if you can find them are badass. Ran a lot of cross country and those were always my go to trail shoes.

You hunting rifle or bow? And yeah man, coast hunting can be a blast and super productive. There's something equally awesome and frustrating knowing your 10 yards away from a bull you just can't see when you're on the coast.

I've done both actually! Shot my first cow on the west side, and then both my bulls on the east side. Both are awesome, but it's definitely a different experience west of the coast range.
