Placing my order with Mr. Means now for a magnesium element to put my tikka in. Looking forward to this thing a ton. Spent the last 6 months saving money and researching which chassi I wanted for my hunting rig. The folder option is going to be so handy. Cheers!!
I've decided to use a Hip pouch with molle. I even down sized my knockers from 10x42 razors to the 8x32 diamond back Hd’s to make them smaller and lighter for this purpose. I still bag 12x50’s and my tripod for glassing sessions but those 8x32 are perfect for on the move. I like to use my kenai...
The issue I ran into by trying to use my 308 for subs was the twist rate. The trail boss powder you mention is perfect for both 300wsm or 308win as it fills the case up to a decent amount. Obviously the 308 win is the better choice as it will have more case fill that the 300 short mag. The...
I am really enjoying these newer RCBS Matchmasters. Very smooth well made and high quality. I’ve used a several sets of Redding dies before these, but all my new dies will be these rcbs matchmasters. Try a set and you’ll love ‘em.
You like those 178’s? I want to try those some time my self. Some RL 16 or 23 and a fed 210 would be killer I think. Do you think they shoot better than the 190 ABLR?
My man your theory is correct! Less powder burning more efficiently provides similar velocities as the win mag. It’s pretty darn nice! I cut mine off just in front of the flutes. It’s about 21”.
Tikka is the best bang for the buck…. Pun intended. You get tons of features, and the option of prefit barrels from several company’s after or before you wear out the first one. They are very consistent performers out of the box. It’s personal preference in the end and most manufacturers make...
I’ve been using fed 210’s in my 300wsm with RL16 and have had No issues. I also wouldn’t hesitate to try some of the magnum primers. In my experience, I’ve seen primers may have slight increases or decreases in overall pressures and velocities but more of an impact on your SD and ES numbers than...
If you haven’t, set an email notification for shootersProshop.com for seconds and firsts. That’s right here in bend Oregon right a crossed the parking lot from Nosler. For that’s been my best source for 300 wsm brass since I started loading for it in October. They will make more soon.
I like the Nos brass a ton. I just got some of the seconds from SPS. 225 pieces of them. 100 are from a lot last fall and 125 from this spring. No notable change in loads. I had to clean up the case mouth of some but over all I love em. The primer pockets are super tite even after two firings...
For what it’s worth, I think the magneto is a great tool. There is a impact shift difference of .5 mil but that’s very repeatable and predictable. It’s always a .5 mil for me. As far as groups are concerned. It may have an effect on them. It may... they only way to tell is to shoot a group with...
Yes it is. It’s very temp stable. I’ve found it to be every bit as good as h4350 or better. It’s also super clean. It’s runs great in my 6.5 creed and 300 wsm. I think it’s a great match for a 270 wsm. I haven’t tried anything heavier than a 190 in the 300wsm but it ran that great too.
