The rolled PR49 is about 19" long and 8" round. Some gals have packed it more shaped like a torso or backpack and either strap it around an existing pack or a bare frame. It'll fit in many bags if you roll it to fit that bag design. Hard to say which bags are best since many people have done...
On the fight opposed to the Ambler Road project:
Dear Hunters & Anglers for the Brooks Range partners:
I’m writing to share exciting news: This morning, the Bureau of Land Management issued a final environmental analysis for the proposed Ambler Industrial Road, which indicates the agency’s...
The inflatable floor is a drop-stitch design and becomes extremely hard at full pressure (5.5-6psi). The floor provides rigidity and a flat surface for standing and casting. It also provides more efficient maneuverability. But the packraft can be used without the floor if weight is a concern.
No duct tape ain't gonna work for longer than 15 minutes. If you're trying to tape bail holes closed, the only temporary fix that might work is flex tape inside and outside the hole, and even then I suspect water will leak in to your bail holes with the fabric flexing and water/grit abundance...
Hopefully by next weekend. If not listed on the site by then, look for it the week of april 14th. I want to take fresh pics at the Show and post 'em then.
FYI we are about to have Outdoors Shows in Mat-Su and then Fairbanks. All rafts will be discounted by several hundred $$ sale. We're hoping to have those prices posted online as well for those outside the show areas.
April 12-14 Mat-Su (Wasilla)
April 19-21 Fairbank
We'll also have new...
No I missed it. I did catch news of a big win for subsistence groups:
https://www.aol.com/judge-rules-favor-biden-administration-035900748.html
IMO this federal subsistence power shift will be weaponized against non-local hunters and anglers in the near future. It's a dramatic precedent that...
I should have added that I'm 6' and my hunting bud who owns the 8-man (Kifaru) is 6'1" and he prefers the 8-man for the extra center height over my Redcliff.
I have used both. Prefer the Redcliff because the liner can be tightened more effectively and the size is ideal for 2-3 guys with or without the stove.
Saves about 3 lbs in weight between the two styles
If you're rifle hunting or going the 5-mile route, keep in mind the road line isn't straight. You could be 5 miles from your truck and only three miles from the road. This is one of the most common citable offenses for us rifle hunters along the Haul Rd. Enforcement will be increased this...
Never wade the Sag even at low water. Its gravel footing is sandy and the channel walls are quite unstable in many places because there's little to no soil and roots to firm things up. People die almost every year on the Sag, even competent swimmers.
If you have a Packraft, ferry across and...
nope. I wouldn't drive from Fairbanks anytime before I've heard truckers or guys like you talking about seeing numerous bands crossing the road. For the investment you gotta make, I'd target the last week of August. But, if you've got 2 days to hike in, a couple to hunt and 3 days to hike out...
I don't believe you need a wolf tag in advance of taking a wolf in 26B, but do have to get the hide and skull sealed within 30-days of the harvest. Might verify this with ADFG prior to hunting though.
I've continued to shed weight on my packing lists for 8-12 day trips and have needed an immediate fire source too often when time matters. I could never justify ditching a stove because it could be that valuable to either start a fire, warm the digits or boil water.
For me weight savings...
