I run the haul road as a pilot car for 14 years. Most of the wolves I saw were north of Atigun. Galbraith lake to the 120 dip, and around Happy Valley. There was one that hung out at Happy Valley for a couple of years that would come up to your truck and beg, everyone thought it was rabid...
Not sure what the parallel kit includes but you can sinc different size and make Gen sets. Basically all you are doing is getting both to run at the same rpm otherwise the faster one will try to drive the other.
I've been driving in Alaska for 50+ years, I run Blizzak's in the winter on my truck. My wife has got Bridgestone Dualer H/T on her 4 runner and they do well but she runs in 4x4 all winter. I've gone skating on several other manufacturers winter tires. You need a soft compound tire, but that...
In 95 I started a job in Russia, wife wanted a dog for company while I was gone. I bought her a Samoyed named Nykki and it turned into a great dog. Been gone along time but was one of our favorite dogs.
Forty years ago I was the service manager for the local Lincoln Welder dealer. My desk was between the parts dept and an area set up to let customers try out different welders and processes. The company held a welding class one day and by the time I got home that night I was almost blind from...
Nice rifle, I've been shooting a TC Hawken 50 for the last 40 years. 90 GR of ff Goex and a TC maxi works well on moose. I haven't shot over 200 yard with it for a number of years, still has the original sights and my old eyes ain't like they used to be.
I use a Browning Buckmark for hare and grouse, squirrels are to small here. With my old eyes I'm going to have to put different sights on it, haven't decided on a scope or a dot.
I ran as a pilot car for several years and carried quite a bit of stuff.
25 ft heavy jumper cables
2 gallons of antifreeze
One gallon of engine oil
Spare alternator, water pump and belt
Tools
4 way lug wrench
Arctic gear
Took out the back seat of my pickup and built in a platform for a bunk...
Life is good In my house, retired at the end of last year. This year I had my old garage torn down and a new bigger one built. Cost was a bit more than I wanted but wasn't way out of line. Everything is paid for and both of us are in reasonably good health. Getting old isn't for the faint of...
If you're on Facebook there is a group called South Central Alaska jet boats. Good bunch of people and very knowledgeable about different boats. Someone on there has owned what you're looking for.
I've got an old 24ft Grayling inboard with a 460 for power. Been running it for thirty years. It's big and heavy which makes it a lot of work to get off a gravel bar but it'll run in ankle deep water. I like being able to work on it and burn about the same amount of gas as the newer boats.
Hunting has always been my favorite pastime. Jet boating the rivers is a close second. Sometimes get to do both at the same time. Gave up my snowmachine a few year's ago, couldn't take the beating anymore. Fishing is a something to do kind of thing for me. Enjoy it but don't go out of my way for it.
