    Air pressure reality

I left town two days ago for some high angle shooting. As I was driving I hit my local weather on a Lapua ballistic app just in case I couldn’t get any stations where I was shooting. I had an air pressure reading in the 29 range. All winter my usual readings are in the 21-22 range. So a what the...

    Skree Zipper Suck

Help me fight Skree zipper suck on their rain jacket. The wind flap on their rain jacket’s are so flexible they keep getting caught in the zipper. My first answer was to just put duct tape on the flap. It looks pretty ghetto but it works. I had a similar problem years ago on a BA tent flap, so I...

    Stupid is easy

Don’t be like me. I’m reloading for 4 guns: 22-250, 270, 7RM, and 300WM. I have two different calibers in the same box. Yes a 270 will feed and fire out of a 7RM, but it won’t hit the target and it won’t extract. Stupid is easy.

    Unit 54 burns

I know this is old news but I didn’t see another post on this. The way I read it, half of GMU54 is closed until 12/31/23 due to the Lowline fire. I reckon it could be revised but probably not by September. https://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/fseprd1126172.pdf Plan B would be...

    BTOJ comparators binding

I have a hornady comparator set for case and BTOJ. When I measure loaded 7mm Accubonds the bullet is binding when I turn it to try and seat it level and center in my caliper’s. This sometimes leaves a circular scoring on the bullet. I’m not confident in my measurements. I’ve tried applying some...

    Looking for a hooker

Not just any hooker will do. Now that I have your attention, I’m looking for a sew on shock cord type pouch hook similar to the Kuiu range finder pouch hook. I’ve checked Rockywoods, sailright, dutchware, bytheroll, etc.. but can’t seem to find a sew on type hook with no special retention...

    Archery timber schooling

So not much info out there on archery timber strategy. It seems like nobody wants to address it but everyone wants to beat it before it happens. What are sound strategies for hunting bucks that have gone to timber after a leisurely summer concentrated on one alpine ridge. Then two weeks before...

Does anyone know if the custom shop is really ever going to reopen?? And if so will that be this year or sometime in the realistic foreseeable future??

    Kifaru gun bearer trap

I have been having troubles getting my rifles with rubber butt pads out of the gun bearer in a hurry. My limbsaver butt pads and tikka stocks are the worst. Kifaru’s butt cradle seems to be too grippy a material for those butt pads and even trying a twisting motion does little to alleviate the...

    Shipping a couple steaks

How do you all ship just a couple steaks across the country to Dad. I’m rural so I don’t have fancy shipping boxes around here nor am I sure they are worth the money for just a couple ek steaks. They don’t have to be frozen when they get there just refrigerator cold. I was playing with the...

    Weak side bow

I'm thinking of switching sides. I have two tears in the labrum of my right shoulder and a growing knot in the muscle between my shoulder and bicep on my right arm. Currently acceptable pain when shooting, but at my age it is sure to deteriorate in the next 5 years. I also have a scleral...

    Fat Tikka Superlite

I thought from the SW description that my new Tikka Superlite 22-250 would be in the low5 pound range. On my scale with out rings or sling swivels and just an empty magazine it weighs 6 lb 1 oz. I don’t think that plastic magazine weighs a pound. I checked the the scale and a 5 lb weight...

New strings and out of specs

After bow season ended I got a new set of strings and cables from the local shop. In my mind I was overdue as my Chill X had the original strings from 2014 and though not a high volume shooter because of my shoulder, I still shoot year round. Before I brought the bow in I noted my ATA was a...

Is there a quiet wind breaker

I have been hunting this month and the wind has been howling the last week. When it's really bad I throw my rain jacket on just to maintain my core temperature. However yesterday I had a bull coming in and the wind all of a sudden stopped and I was just trying to imagine how I would be able to...

    nikon p900 superzoom

Anybody scouting with a superzoom? I have been scouting with a monocular and a light weight spotting scope for years. I then struggle with getting a poor to fair digiscope photo through my spotting scope. I find myself wondering if I could just scout with just a monocular and then work a...

Bye Bye CPW Predator Control Program

I already posted this in the general discussion, but it maybe more appropriate for the muley crowd. So wifey brought this article to my attention a few days ago and I kept waiting for someone to bring it up on Rokslide. Maybe someone had and I missed it. Colorado may euthanize more bears and...

Bye Bye CPW Predator Control Program

So wifey brought this article to my attention a few days ago and I kept waiting for someone to bring it up on Rokslide. Maybe someone had and I missed it. Colorado may euthanize more bears and lions to try to boost dwindling deer numbers – The Denver Post I will admit that I am no friend to...

WTT: Vanguard Endeavor HD82A spotter for Leupy vx2 3-9x33 ultra light

I used this Spotting scope for scouting the 2014 muley preseason. I haven't used it since. It's a good condition Vanguard Endeavor HD82A 20x60. If I spent more time shooting at the range or truck scouting I would keep it, but I don't. I'm looking for a Leupy ultralight vx2 3-9x33 with a LR...

    Valle Vidal misfortune

Well it looks like I might of had the great misfortune of a last minute chance at a VV tag. Why is this unfortunate? Well the only way I have a chance at it was due to a medical misfortune that fell on my buddy. He survived, but isn't in any condition to hunt. He might be able to walk a few...

    How simple a gps

Maybe I should of piggybacked on AK troutbum's thread a couple days ago on topo maps for his Montana 600 since this is pretty similar, but not. I am a simple fellow who has done fine by compass and paper maps for 30 years. The only GPS feature I have used in the past has been just to get my...
