After having to send items to vortex for warranty I personally don't recommend them. I want my stuff to work day to day.
I went with leica. There's other threads here that seem to support leica as well.
I know late to the party. The 940 Osborne with s90v is the only one from Benchmade I personally recommend. The rest I've had don't hold an edge worth a damn.
I'd have to see what the other steels were I'm pretty sure one was s30v, can't remember the others.
It's been my daily career for...
Solid bourbons on my shelf.
Elijah craig (barrel proof, or most any)
Larceny barrel proof.
Eagle rare
Eh Taylor single barrel(tried from a friend)
Old fitzgerald the ones I've had have been solid
Weller antique 107
Wlw(verdict is still out haven't cracked)
Knob creek special reserve 9y 120...
Marinades, leftovers, soups for later, cheeses, if something happened to my sealer it would be replaced immediately.
It's not cheap but we put it through the finger each year and I wouldn't downgrade it at all.
Like I said, I know many people that don't share my experiences with vortex. But that's not mine.
My lht is on my rifle currently. I will be testing my previously sighted in rounds in the next week or two, I'm anticipating a shift, can't say yet but my newest loads are working up about...
75% failure with the first version razor HD lh. Got a lht as a replacement to one of them, so far no failures, round count around 45. 1 hunting trip.
Do I trust it? Not yet.
Mess of marlins here. Last game taken was years back in Ketchikan small blacktail with 150gn barnes reloads. Last count is probably over 20 levers, marlins with one or two others(blr, savage 99)
Xtratuffs I have used were from the 2012-16 time frame. Usually lasted a few trips or two(no more then light wear) . Then leaked. I personally can't endorse them due to leaking in 5-7 days. Maybe they've gotten better? Can't say the last time I saw anyone in them. Matanuska valley area here.
Moose or bear. What can you shoot? Carry that. I run a 454 in the woods. Wife carries a 44mag.
A gun you can shoot does you more good then a gun you can't.
Don't know what terrain your looking at. Up here picked up a can-am outlander 6x6 1000cc. It's light enough to get under the weight restrictions in areas. The defender(sxs) version is an extra 1300lbs same engine.
The difference between them? The defender feels like she's struggling...
Recent one was a new hunter that flagged me with a loaded (it's safe) 06, mult times.
Vortex scopes that can't make it past range days(80% failure, from diamondback to razors, more of the old razors then any of them)
Front sight on marlin 336 in 44mag. Looked off in the tree stand, and slid...
Recently found the partitions available. Will be loading them up to see how they do. I'm just happy that 8mm and 35 cal bullets are starting to show up.
Have to hit the range, to see how my lht 3-15 did following last season. The predecessor was the 2-10 Razer HD lh. I had 3 failures(across 2 different scopes)one of which was replaced by the lht. I'm optimistic to say the least as far as durability. But hunted here in ak last fall and...
Alaska, last two fall seasons. 2022, boots needed to be replaced. 2023, crispi boots I bought absorbed like a sponge, backup boots oboz, again failed me. I didn't do the proper testing going into the season. Suggestions?
I know it's s but if an older thread. But any updated info? Got a 325 wsm last spring, and going to play with some accubonds I found on the shelf last week or two.
