Chronograph velocity 175fps slower than box

Ok glad to know the 175fps is not a worry. I have been using my ballistic program and do see how at longer ranges it can make a big difference. I definitely don’t want a round 100fps faster than what I am planning for.

Chronograph velocity 175fps slower than box

I have probably shot 200-250 rounds through it so far. I have been happy with how the hornady ammo groups but I also did not like the one round at 2736 fps. If that was an anomaly and I remove it, the 5 shot group varies by 49fps. I will shoot some more through and also try some different...

Chronograph velocity 175fps slower than box

the tikka has a 22.4 in barrel. I believe the box test data is from a 24 inch barrel. I do not have plans to hand load right now. It’s something I may do in the future but don’t have any equipment for it now.

Chronograph velocity 175fps slower than box

I am shooting a tikka t3x in 7mm-08 using hornady American whitetail ammo. Yesterday I shot through a chronograph and found it to be about 175fps slower than the published box data of 2840fps. Is this something to worry about or evaluate further? I shot 6 times with the following velocities...

    turkey shotgun

I use a sbe 2 with longboard xr. I leave a Burris fast fire mounted to a picatinny rail. 4 screws attaches rail to gun for turkey season. A couple shots to re zero, it’s always really close and ready to go. Then take it off after season.

    Knife Setup

Havalon and a sharpened pocket knife(not a high end knife). I use The pocket knife for the tough areas skinning and if I need a stiffer knife while quartering. Havalon works for the precise cuts. I carry a pocket knife anyways so make it double duty, better than carrying a second fixed blade...

Truck Topper to buy or not to buy

Hauling/stacking wood under a topper while possible is a real pain. Crawling around stacking wood takes forever. I leave my topper on year round for dry safe storage and a great place for dog kennels. Use a trailer for wood/atv.
