    Mossberg SA-20 Turkey with a Carlson .575 choke. Have been using Apex Turkey Ninja (8.5's) the last few seasons, although I bought some 9's to try out for this year. I'm not expecting a big difference but it will cure my boredom for now.

    Good info here. I hunt the eastern shore a few times a year, usually hear bugles but never specifically targeted them. My buddy killed a sika last year hiking into his spot, stag was standing 20 yards off the trail completely oblivious. I dont see how you can get any luckier.

    Ive got a blacktail 2 and think its solid for the price - if I backpacked more I would probably pay more for something lighter. With that being said I have rode out some gnarly storms in the blacktail without issue.

    Try shortening your draw length in off season

    I too experienced an improvement going from 29.5 to 29, but will also echo @Holocene that there are other factors to consider. To add a few: D-loop length, what type of release you use, how you hold the release, etc.
