    WTB Volquartsen Summit 22 LR

Casually browsing for a straight-pull action .22 LR, and I have admired the USA-made Volquartsen Summit. Would also be interested in the standard biathlon straight-pull rifles such as a modestly-priced Izhmash.

Put Some Thought into your first aid kit

There's a lot of emphasis on gear on this thread. The best thought I've ever put into my first aid kit is from having purchased Wilderness First Responder and Wilderness First Aid (WFA) courses. The shorter, weekend-duration WFA course is excellent for going through how to build/improvise an...

Wyoming HB 00600: Dang those "grass-gobbling elk"

The bill was killed by Senator Hicks but this problem isn't going away. https://wyofile.com/senate-leader-kills-compensation-program-for-elk-eaten-grass/

    Wyoming Thorofare Elk Questions

Llama wrangling. They were not 'swift' so to speak. I imagine a seasoned llama packer familiar with each llama's unique personality would have done a quicker job. It only takes one bad apple to ruin the llama train.

    Wyoming Thorofare Elk Questions

I have done this in the Thorofare and do not recommend llamas. It took 2.5 days to pack in what normally takes a full day for a fit fella to hike. Since I don't kill elk in the evening when in grizzly country, llamas really only gave me 3 days of hunting for a 9 day rental.

Newberg says a $40 elk tag (or whatever it cost) is a $25,000 elk tag for residents.

Agreed. The harsh reality is that not every industry/career can be remote. Another undesirable consequence is there is less holding people back on moving to formerly less inhabited areas, adding development pressures to the habitats we all care about.

Newberg says a $40 elk tag (or whatever it cost) is a $25,000 elk tag for residents.

I limited my career opportunities by choosing to stay in Wyoming after earning an advanced degree. However, in the post-pandemic remote work era, opportunities have grown and career sacrifices are narrower.

Wyoming HB 00600: Dang those "grass-gobbling elk"

The dangerous thing about this bill is that it mandates these payments come out of the Game and Fish budget instead of the general fund. Estimates by G&F indicated this could easily run into the millions of dollars per year. The sponsors/ag lobby of this bill want to "teach Game and Fish a...

Wyo Special Apps are down in #’s

This is really what it was about if you look into who was advocating for this new change in the 2023 Legislative Session that passed this terrible bill into law. Lots of complaints about the economy in this thread, but investments are at their peak valuations ever. Why not splurge on extra...

E bike vs setting up a regular bike

Anything uphill at more than a slight grade will be tough, so I typically hop off and push. I would make the trailer decision on trail conditions. Narrow, curvy, up and down all make trailers tougher to pull.

Has anyone had the savage lightweight storm barrel threaded?

Thanks @Gamehearse! Neat to see the suppressor setup! Which model is this one specifically? The video posted above measures muzzle diameters at 0.690", 0.585", and 0.550" for the .300 WM 110 storm, 116 weather warrior, and 110 lightweight storm 7mm respectively. The muzzle diameter of my 116...

Has anyone had the savage lightweight storm barrel threaded?

@Gamehearse, any issues with the shoulder for threading a suppressor? I am also curious if you use a thread size adapter.

    Point Creep Got Me

Having twice hunted an area requiring NR max points as well as another exceeding 10 points, the commonality I have observed across these places is they share relatively easy terrain, and the possibility of decent bulls that is far from guaranteed. I know residents that ended up tagging raghorns...

Pics of wood and blues steel rifles

Very valid points - I had been wondering about the extra powder building up into the suppressor if the barrel were to be shortened. You're also correct in that the sporter barrel is too thin to thread to 5/8 x 24 and thus would need an ugly shoulder/adapter install. My suppressor will go on a...

Pics of wood and blues steel rifles

I'll share a couple with two images each: 1982 Rem 700 BDL in .243 Win, which will always be sentimental as my 15th birthday present from my parents. Still gets service time on antelope hunts. And second set is a 1993 Browning A-Bolt Medallion in 7mm Rem Mag with a 26" barrel. I adore the high...
