    Can I ruin your day?

My dad passed away in January, I was traveling to go see him as I knew he was close and I missed him by 2 hours. I was waiting for my last connecting flight and my sister called that he had taken his last breath. It's never easy, my dad was only 73 but suffered from a very unique dementia and...

    Call insurance or no?

I figured most of you guys/gals on here knows more than me, but we found an issue in our bathroom. It was "remodeled" when we moved in almost 3 years ago, tiles on the wall, bath tub, some weird mat on the plywood floor. We discovered a soft corner right by the tub, ripped the mat up and found...

    Is this wolf scat?

Found several piles of scat on a ridge yesterday, about 8800 ft and pretty far from any roads or trails so I doubt it's from a dog. And too big for coyote? SE Idaho if it helps. My guess if wolf but wanted to confirm. There were about 3-4 other piles in this general area.

Garmin Inreach, Inreach Explorer or other?

I've finally gotten around to purchase some sort of satellite communicator, but would prefer a Garmin with the GPS function. I have used them before and always liked having a more secure navigation tool than my phone alone. I've looked at the Inreach Explorer which is an outdated model, from...

Knee pads - always too low

I just received a pair of SG De Havilland Lite pants incl knee pads. But they end up too low for me, barely covering any part of my knee while kneeling, which is really frustrating. I'm assuming my legs are just too short... I had the same issue with a pair of Kryptek Alaois pants. I think...

Looking for an option/suggestion - pants

Okay so I've got these pants in my closet: https://tacticalgear.com/tru-spec-poly-cotton-ripstop-tru-uniform-pants-digital-desert#/13675/0,0,661/1 Not your typical hunting pant but they have served me well and were very cheap. I had to do some work, like replace the Velcro with buttons etc. I...

    Anyone camp under a tarp?

I started to think about tarp camping. Since a tarp can be quite large and really light, it makes sense to use on a hunt. A couple of problems though, bugs and other pests, might not be able to set up anywhere, trees help. The false sense of security one gets behind a tent is gone. Might be for...

Hey fellow hunters! I just wanted to post a thread of my first ever hunt in the US and in Idaho. Moved here from Sweden last November and the hunting here is different 🙂 Just spent 3 days this week hunting the archery opener for mule deer. 2 different units, 3 different areas. Scouting hasn't...

    How careful with water?

So where I come from, Northern Sweden, the water is clean and safe to drink, pretty much anywhere. With the spring run-off the water is bad, but that's it. And over here in the US, we have to deal with giardia. I know a water filter will take care of 99% of the virus and parasites in the water...

So I see an ad locally on FB for a Kuiu pack system and I cannot find that much information about it online. It's a frame with a large belt/suspension. What waist size would large with Kuiu be? It's a couple of years old. Incl the Icon 3200 bag and the Ultra 5500 bag. All this for $350. Now...

    Anyone in Idaho Falls?

So we just moved here, my wife, son and I, amd now I'm looking for someone like-minded that wouldn't mind showing me around. Not even been in IF a week yet, so haven't driven around much. Got my flyfishing pole and would like to take a small trip before all creeks and lakes freezes over. Or...

Anyone hang their animal like this?

So here in Sweden we always hang our moose in the pelvic hip bone, I believe that's the term, because of rigor mortis. Haven't seen anyone on here talk about it, how come? We even hang moose in the backcountry like this, big pain and we use pulleys and lots of muscle. Just wondering, there are...

Anyone ever use a "regular" hiking backpack?

I see that everybody posts about amazing hunting backpacks that are specialized for hunters and the needs we might feel like. But for many, the budget for a good backpack just isn't there. I might have the money, but I cannot justify, for myself, a $5-600 backpack. I want one, I can afford one...
