This thread made me add several books to my Libby list. I read River of Doubt on a flight to Brazil to fish for peacock bass - thank you to those who recommended it. The Wager and Killers of the Flower Moon were added as a result of this list and thoroughly enjoyed as well. I'm currently reading...

Lathrop & Sons Mountain Hunter long term review

They are a great boot. I worked with Stephen remotely after a rebuilt pair of a different brand fell apart in 13 miles. I was about 30 days from a mountain goat hunt when that happened and Lathrop and Sons took great care of me and the boots were and still are amazing.

River of Doubt is a fantastic book. I started it on Christmas Day and finished it yesterday. I also recommend "On the Border with Crook". It's a firsthand account of General Crook’s campaigns during the American Indian Wars.

    Scope for a .17 HMR

I have one of these sitting around with a B&C reticle on it... wish I had the varmint hunter reticle. I think I'll try it anyway. Are you still appy with it on your 17?

    2023 Whitetail Meat Pole

Uphill shot. Longest shot I've ever made on a coues deer and the most angle I've ever taken any shot. Shortest distance was 38 yards.

    2023 Whitetail Meat Pole

Anything over 350 is not for the faint of heart or unpracticed. 500 is a poke, nice work!

Kodiak Goat hunt - in 4 weeks

It was dark by the time we got down to him. He took three steps and fell over but then he kicked and fell nearly 1,200 feet down the mountain. Some more pics in trip report here -trip report

Thanks @JoeB and @Falcon! It was a great hunt. @JoeB, I went with Sam Rohrer as the outfitter. Rohrer Bear Camp. Great guys and a hard working crew. I'd be happy to answer any questions about them, the process, gear etc.

This one is mine and the shorter of the two at 7.5” with 5” bases. Both were called 3.5

    2023 Goat on Kodiak

Ok. Outfitter put 3 on the hunt report card as well. His goat being longer and bigger bases than mine at the same age did have me wondering. Here’s another pic he sent me. This is the 8 3/4” long goat with 5 2/8 bases, not mine. It’s the first goat in the pics in daylight in my report.

How's this? Will corrected me when he sent this - he said bases were 5 2/8" and length was 8 3/4"

Thank you! My pleasure. Thank you Absolutely! Thanks. Thank you and... Good Lord willing, it won't be my last, I'm working on the next one already! Thank you. I took SO many pictures I'll be weeding through them for months... which is good because it'll give me time to wait on taxidermy...

    2023 Goat on Kodiak

Thank you! I see where you are coming from and fully expected someone to pick up on that and you did not disappoint. I even vacillated on how to word it to avoid debate about long distance shots (long distance to me, in NM, may be short to you in AK). I intentionally didn't list the yardage on...
