I like to keep my hunting set up shooting 280-290 FPS. I shoot as heavy an arrow as I can get away with and keep it in that FPS range. 510ish grains (give or take a few) is around where I am at now. No idea about the FOC, but its heavy/fast enough for about any situation I could be in without...
I really like the Nock2it. Shot a couple other thumb releases before deciding to drop $200 on one and haven't looked back. The Carter Wise choice ( i think ) is the same release, but 3 or 4 finger models. I have shot both of those and like the 3 finger as well.
Congrats on the archery goat!! Nice one for sure. I think antelope meat is the most under rated game out there. Super good stuff, just gotta take care of it.
I always grind twice. Seems to turn out better/more tender for me. I have a Cabelas 1HP Carnivore grind and works pretty good. 2nd grind is slower for sure, but worth it imo.
No big animals here, but I have killed a fallow buck in the Texas hill country and a couple of whitetails with the 1.7. No issue with penetration but blood trails have not been as heavy as I'd like. I shoot a heavy setup like S. Clancy.....510 gr arrow moving around 285-290fps.
I bought a quivalizer a couple of years ago and love the way it feels on the bow. Balances out very nice. You can even switch it up and mount like a conventional quiver, but I have never had the need/want to do that.
