    Cylinder count is mostly for nvh. Ford has a 2.7 6cyl, GM makes it a 4cyl.. both nuke the 5.3 in torque. Engine size doesn't dictate cylinder count. If that were the case, tractor engines would be in the dozens of cylinders, and they're just 6 and 8cyl. Diesels have turbos to keep them...

    A personal friend has the same truck and hates it, terrible mpg towing/empty, not very good with their 5er, hunts for gears. The 6.2 is indestructible but gutless. I'd never opt for a 6.2 for a 5k trailer over a top tier engine 1/2 ton. Also, 18.5...downhill with a tailwind?

    You aren't making 728 torque just driving empty @ any rpm down the road, you're talking about full throttle. Consider a 3.5 Ecoboost, 500@ 2500, it's about as diesel as it gets for gas, sans hybrid. The implication that a 1/2 ton can't handle a 5k trailer on any highway and a diesel 3/4 ton...

    Is there even a 1/2 ton that would be over gvwr with a #5000 trailer? The most basic 1/2 ton is north of 5k capacity, J2807 tested. Heck, new 1/2 tons have more torque than the Cummins 12 valve or 7.3 PS. I fail to see the benefits of 3/4 diesel for a 5k trailer.

    Unless he's going to tow for 300k miles, not worth the trade up. 8mpg vs 13-15? Diesel is $5/gal and gas is $2.99. Get an F150 with a 2.7, 5k is nothing for a 1/2 ton anymore.

    Oh, you're looking for specific brands?? Anything Leupold 3-9. You've looked at 375 ballistics, any shot past 250-300 yds and you brought the wrong gun. For real, it's a slug to shoot, don't stress about optics on it.
