I'll be making the trip over to Colorado from UK 🇬🇧, this will be my 7th attempt at an Elk and I'll take the first legal Elk in range, I'll be using my 49# Big Jim Buffalo, 500grn GT Traditional 500 arrows with 200grn VPA 3x blades up front.
Good luck on your hunt, I look forward to reading the...
I'll be using 200grn VPA 3x blade Terminators this September from my 49lb Big Jim Buffalo, but out of the heads you have, I'd probably go Grizzly or VPA.
What I mean is, give the guy a chance to settle into the forum, yeah if the name calling reoccurs, by all means report it, since his mistake he ain't called anybody out. We've all done it in the past, but the post is an interesting one, which has highlighted some of the etiquette required to...
Wow, really, I think this thread is quite a good thread, don't be that person Maverick1
I've also hunted said area 3x times with no success(read into that what you will), but unfortunately I do respect the unwritten law, on that note , hope you have a great trip Crjones8, all I will say is...
Yeah, I've tried the trad vane 4", tried 3x fletch right helical and 4x fletch right helical on Easton Camo Hunters, I've only had one vane come off(out of 5 arrows fletched), but I've never had a feather come off, so it kinda knocks the confidence for me using them in Colorado this year, as I'm...
Big Jim Bows are awesome, I ordered my 60" Buffalo TD and yeah it took like 12months to get, but sometimes it's best to be patient and wait, I frickin love this bow. He's a busy dude, but definitely worth the wait , 49lb @ 27".
If you don't have it already, the ELKNUT App is awesome, fraction of the cost of the courses, but so much information ...... try the App, before signing up to a course and also the ELKNUT Playbook 👍🏻
For the money, you won't beat the Bearpaw/Bodnik Slick Stick, just an awesome bow, 58" long, bamboo backed, no stack, smooth draw, 30yr guarantee and shoots a dream. I have a 40lb Slick Stick and 49lb Big Jim Buffalo, and love them both, they're keepers for sure. My Buffalo is personally the...
Selway slide on are great, once in place you'll never have to touch it again, I also have a Big Jim Strap On, which also is a great quiver, but I prefer the Selway Slide On, the foam is awesome.
Hi Guys, I'm in the process of planning next year's Archery Elk hunt, just curious, but has anybody used bugling/call tactics on opening week for success or have you had more success spotting stalking them?
Dave
Went with the Promaster XC-M 525c from S & S Archery, I'll upgrade the head at a later date, but for now it will do. Gotta say I'm really impressed with how light and easy it is to set up, cannot wait to get it used out on the mountains .
Thanks Guys, I was looking at the Slik 624cf, but by the time I add the shipping and tax, I'll be looking at around $400 and that's just too much. I'll take a look at the Sirui T-005x, as it popped up twice 👍
Thanks again.
Hey Roksliders,
I'm looking at buying a Tripod for glassing with my 8x and 15x Vortex Vipers, I'll be carrying them into the backcountry for 3-4 day hunt stints(Colorado), so needs to be sturdy, limited vibration, lightweight, height is not essential as I will be glassing either sat...
Destination Elk, The Bugler, Solo Hntr, Jordan Budd(till the end) series was amazing, Roe Hunting Resources, Hushin, Pure Elevation Productions and I liked all the stuff Born and Raised did up until Land if the Free 2.0..... too much messing about on screen, too much slapping on the back and...
I have a "Remedy" Reed in my Mouth, a spare in my Chest pocket, a Primos "I maka da Bull crazy" and my Phelps "Unleashed" bugle tube....... just for the record, I would never carry a Hoochie Mama :)
Great write up Matt, so happy for you my friend, you deserve all the success you get and earn it everytime. My only regret is not being there to share the moment #gettinerdone
