Swfa 3-15 milquad or Optika6 as a Nrl22 base class scope

I’ve only shot a few nrl 22 matches but I have a swfa 3-15 on a tikka T1x that I use when I do. It’s a pretty sweet little set up. I did put a 20 moa rail on it so I’d have some extra elevation available. I’ve shot steel out to 200 meters (local range has some steel set at meters) quite a bit...

    Concealed carry belt

Another vote for tenicor zero. I’ve tried several others for aiwb and the zero is my favorite so far. I don’t love a super rigid belt, I’d rather have a touch of slack so it can kind of find its happy place as I move/sit/kneel etc.

    6 prc vs 243AI

How ‘bout 6 CM? Don’t have to worry about bolt face, ammo is easy, and it shoots and kills good. (Typed before I read your last post, looks like you’re already considering it.)

.223 for bear, deer, elk and moose.

It reminds me of when kids don’t want to eat their vegetables because they don’t like them even though they haven’t tried them. Most all of us that are shooting critters with the 223’s used to shoot critters with big guns.

.223 for bear, deer, elk and moose.

good PNWGATOR is spot on and a good dude with good advice. I would add; search hunting rifle drill here on the forum and start practicing that with the kiddo. It’ll be helpful for both of you.

    RokStok

I have shot with Phillip, I think he calls it building the bridge. It made me way less dependent/ reliant on the rear bag. He is a good dude and was helpful for me to shoot with. The particular detail that was new/helpful to me was putting some pressure back into your shoulder. I had previously...

“Meaningful” differences 6.5 cm be 308?

I wouldn’t shoot copper out of either one. 6.5 will be a good bit better in the wind and have less recoil. I don’t think critters will be able to tell the difference but the 6.5 will be easier to hit them with.

    Which youth rifle?

Hands down Tikka compact. We tried the Ruger American thing and ended up with a tikka anyway. I say bite the bullet and get the right one from the start.

    Seekins havak element

A friend of mine got a regular havak in 6.5cm. I don’t care for it much at all, bolt seems real prone to binding when run even remotely aggressive and his doesn’t always pick up a round from the magazine. His rifle does seem to be very accurate. Not saying don’t get it but based on the one I...

    Tip suggestion: seated shots?

I used a hatch for awhile and was shown and now prefer crossed trekking poles upfront and pack between my legs for rear support.

Bino Harness- what are you taking?

Used an AGC for years, no complaints. Switched to a Sitka, I do like the pouches on both sides and geovid r’s fit in and out nicely.

.223 for bear, deer, elk and moose.

My daughter shot a little buck Saturday. AAC 77 tmk/Tikka. 200 yds, below us and quartered away. Bullet slipped in above gut bag but behind diaphragm and angled through 1 lung. Buck made it about 100 yds and tipped over. Found projectile under offside hide it looked like a partition or...

.223 for bear, deer, elk and moose.

We killed three with the aac 77 tmk/ tikkas over the weekend. I shot a buck at just over 100 yds bedded in the back of his neck. DRT no exit but neck was hammered. Had a youth hunter shoot one broadside at 225 yds, hit a little too far back. Buck moved out of sight, we found it about 50-75 yds...

First and Last Rifle - New Hunter

Tikka 6.5 cm, swfa 6x or 3-9, UM or sportsmatch rings, factory hornady eldx or eldm ammo. You can spend more money or buy different calibers but this will easily do anything you would ever want to do with the least amount of brain damage. 6.5 cm is plenty for elk, I’ve killed quite a few with...
