Afternoon Hunt in New Zealand Back Country

What a landscape. Nice Tahr. Can't really think of a comparable hunt opportunity in the US. Reckon that big of a culling messed up the game for a while, or is it common?

Afternoon Hunt in New Zealand Back Country

Hey 199, thanks for sharing this. I'd be interested to read any additional accounts you have of getting out in the bush over there. I'm curious if you could talk a little more about the differences between north island and south island hunts done diy. Species availability, weather patterns...

    Dumb question

Other than a potential safety concern, is it detrimental to leave a powder charge in your gun? I've had 120 gr by vol bh209 in my Knight since the September season. Is unburnt bh209 corrosive? Cheers

85mm Razor vs 65mm ATS at lowlight

The 85mm gathers more light and does give you the ability to see a lit image longer, but the quality of the image you get through the swaro is better, and negates the apparent advantage of the larger objective.

85mm Razor vs 65mm ATS at lowlight

I went from a gen 1 85mm razor to a 65mm ats (25-50x). You will not miss your razor. There is a noticeable difference in brightness at first and last light, it is noticeable but not significant. The increased quality of resolution in the swaro does indeed seem to compensate for the difference...

    2022 Bear Success Thread

Was reading in my tent and heard my duffel bag sliding across the ground. This guy was hiding behind a spruce with my bag, end of opening day. It didn't run from the usual hazing, it started posturing, so it got 10mm.

    Second season Colorado gear suggestions

I got caught in this storm; it was a pivotal moment in my hunting adventures. The temps absolutely bottomed out, along with the feet of snow - and it was not in the forecast the days leading up to the season. The experience went from hunting to survival real fast, to leaving the hunt early. It...

    Posting unit #'s

No doubt that Newberg, Meateater, and the like have contributed heavily to new application, new hunter participation; and I would argue driven an increase in success rates as well.
