    My knife builds

This one is 3mm NitroV steel, with a full flat grind and a tapered tang. Handles are an Australian native timber called Spotted Gum, with red G10 liners, brass Loveless bolts & brass lanyard tube. The pattern of this knife draws very heavily from the Bark River Gunny Hunter. I had some...

    My knife builds

I wanted to do this bushcrafter as a scandi grind this time around, but I find them very hard to freehand grind. I screwed it up by taking the grind down too far, so took it to a high saber grind instead. It also the first of this pattern bushcrafter that I have done that doesnt have a wood...

    My knife builds

I had another go at making a boner pattern. The steel on this one is 2.5mm NitroV. I bought a radius platen that replicates a 72" wheel, so this has a very subtle hollow grind. It actually looks like a flat grind, but I am hoping the minimal radius gives it an extra sharp edge while still...

    My knife builds

So after making my last attempt at a night visible knife, I was asked by someone to make the same knife for them. I wasn't entirely happy with the last handle material, so did some some more searching online and found what seemed like a good alternative and ordered a set to try. This new handle...

    My knife builds

Another version of my small bowie. Its intended to be a good general duty knife - good for carcass breakdown, but still get you through general chores, basic bush crafting, etc. One knife to carry in the pack and do it all, or most anyway. The blade is 3mm NitroV steel with a full flat grind...

    My knife builds

Another variation on a knife I have made a few times now. I am going to have to come up with a name because I think I will be making a few more soon. Second time working with VG10 Damascus steel. The layers are slightly off centre which is a bit of a pain. Luckily it has enough core steel to...

    Knife sharpener

Yes, I carry one in my kill kit. Its the best I have found for field sharpening. I have loaned it to a few people and at least one went out and bought their own after using mine.

    Left hand Tikka Stock Options

I had a gunsmith do it. You COULD do it yourself with just a file, but I wanted it to look as good as possible, so had it done by someone who can drive a mill.

    My knife builds

So this is another version of the knife I made last year. I wanted to see what I could do with the profile. I bought a set of Chinesium handle scale material that is supposed to glow in the dark, so thought it might make a a handy knife for breaking down animals if you are taking a shot on...

    Are horandy interbonds any good.

Years ago getting ready for a hunt in Namibia I tried 180gn interbonds and accubonds in a 300 magnum. I wasnt happy with the accuracy of the interbonds, so went with the accubonds. The accubonds performed great on the hunt, and have been one of my favourite bullets since then.

    My knife builds

At the end of 2022, I gave my step mother the first chefs knife I ever made for Christmas. Since then she has told me she loves the knife, and when I went over for the 2023 family Christmas dinner she asked me to make her a smaller knife as a companion knife to go with the big chefs knife. This...

    My knife builds

Had another go at a woodlore bushcrafter knife. The steel is NitroV with a saber grind. The tang is tapered down to under 1mm which is the thinnest I have ever gone. Handle is micarta with a .5mm orange and .5mm white G10 liner with Loveless bolts.

Reforming .308 brass to .338 FED

You probably wont have a big problem with once fired brass, but you could. A couple of times I have had problems trying to chamber old brass in a new barrel, even after resizing it in a FL die. I would definitely start with new brass for what you are describing. Necking up from 30 cal to 338 is...
