7mm SAW Questions
But what are the advantages over a standard 7mm08? Is it worth the extra effort in building a custom rifle? We can load down the 7saum to match 708 recoil bit you can't load up 7saw/08/ai to match the 7saum. I'm just curious is all and not bashing anyone's choice to build the rifle they want. -

Ruger american v2 or tikka 7mm08 or a 6.5if that's your thing. This whole be his/her rifle for the rest of there life and it will kill anything in the lower 48 with ease -

You should be OK at 20in with 9/16x24 I have a 19in tikka with 5/8x24. Biggest issue is there isn't much shoulder left for anything to seat against. We made a washer for mine that fits tighter than a you know what. -

Just out of curiosity why are folks doing these "improved" 708 builds to gain 100fps?? Factory hornady 150g eldx hit 2800 in 20in barrels for me. I've loaded 162g and got 2750 with sub moa grouping. The logical step would be a 7saum, then your getting 250fps more and the ability to go even heavier. -

That's ke....more ke = harder to stop, it's literally a calculation based of speed and weight, how do you figure out momentum?? -

Then don't but at the same time if you unwilling to try things or try them again then your "exp" is very limited and you should let people that actually test things against there belief do the commenting. -

Tuning my new RIP TKO
Been shooting some rip tko with a 75g brass insert from easton with there match grade colors and zero complaints or failures. Also shooting easto x10 PP with the same setup and they are grouping like a rifle. -

The question is would you go buy that 340 over another rifle is a more readily available cartridge by another manufacturer. You owning the rifle kinda forces you to support them. -

I confused you with the op. I'm in the field of thought that bullets aren't arrows and we don't need a exit if the bullet performs. -

I agree I was just saying it because you put so much emphasis on having a exit wound, based on my exp and many others at closer ranges bonded bullets end up under hide with no exit. -

Solid choices! I want a 7prc but I'm not sure how much it gains over the 7wsm or 7saum when we start cutting barrel off. -

If your shots are close the ab most likely will end up under hide on the off side. I'm not a fan of solids but everything your explaining here tells me that they might be a better option for you. I only say that because they tend to not expand as much as a nab and they normally exit from what... -

18" barrel with 140g will still be above 2700fps on most factory loads. Don't get to hung up on the velocity loss if your plan is to have a handy rifle because you can't have both. If you absolutely need speed then load up some 120g nbt or ttsx and get your 3k fps. -

I think the eldx exploding is what we want tbh. Get away from the shoulder and put them in the air bags. Moose take 2 steps and flop, I've shot moose with 180g accubonds out of my wsm and watched them all take off with double lung shots. I'm not a elk hunter so I'm not sure if it equates the... -
Kids rifle manifesto
No the .223 is literally the exact same compairison as a .410....you can run slugs and sabots in a 410, it's the smallest of its family, it's kid friendly, kills effectively within its limits. I'm not sure how they could be more alike. -

We shot 140ab b3fore I started loading the 150g eldx. Only problem I have with the ab is they require a bit more velocity to expand. I took a back up shot on my daughter's first moose, she shot 708 with 140ab right above the heart and a full pass through. I shot a 180ab out of my wsm and hit 1in... -

WTT Tikka trade
Have you shot a savage ultralight? I don't own a single one because tikkas are just hands down a better rifle. Also the savage isn't going to be much lighter if any at all. Good luck though.- AkRyan
