I think what it comes down to after we compared them is, the messenger has a bigger battery, real world estimates between the two of us if he was at 65 I’d be at 85, these are estimates mine you just off our rando trail conversations.
I liked that I could just toss mine anywhere except upside...
Hey all just wanted to give a quick update. My wife got me a messenger for Christmas and finally it is elk season. I used this on the expedition plan so I could text unlimited and it worked flawlessly.
My brother has a mini 2 and we shared the same results with the messenger sometimes yielding...
Excellent condition Pintler pack. I bought it for a western hunt two years ago and it worked great and carried well. Only selling because I picked up a Beartooth 80 for a 5 day hunt this fall.
This has their new MT frame.
The belt size is a M/L 35-40”
The shoulder straps say L/XL...
I wish they made an incinerator lite. I think that would put it around fanatic temps and price but without grandmas carpet on the outside. I’m not a fan of the fanatic exterior.
good luck in NY. Your setup with the mode should hold 30 but you will get chilly after a few hrs.
I think your question depends on your plan duration on the Deerstand with or without wind. I think you’ll be good with that set up for a few hours I’m guessing at our three in the mid 30s you will start cooling off pretty quick. I would pack you’re super down pants in your bag and maybe look for...
I would do the stratus set Over the fanatic unless you have cash for both.
I would use LW base, fanatic hoody on the walk in. Once in tree or at the base add on the midi. Once I start to get chilled after an hour or so I’d add the stratus.
LW base, equinox pants on the walk in then stratus...
Looking at the specs they seemed really similar, the new aerolite was 0.9 oz lighter I believe.
I wish the sitka website people would get better with descriptions, it has always annoyed me when some pieces have a ton of info and some have hardly any. Would it be hard to try and standardize it...
Hey all, after doing my weekly run through Sitka's site to see if there is anything I "have" to have I noticed they had a new puffy style jacket, the aerolite. Looks like it replaced the Kelvin lite hoody which is annoying being I just bought one.
Seems comparable to the kelvin lite hoody...
I ended up with an outdoor research rain jacket and a Sitka kelvin lite. Will report back on how that works out, I will say the shell is loud and will most likely just be a storm shell for western hunts
Only one left it says

Traverse left, Apex right. I would say the apex is a bit more durable but the traverse is a bit more comfortable. The traverse looks like its it worst shape but they get washed more as my summer scouting/trail cam and stand hanging pants so they get the worst of it. The apex was ground hunted...
That makes me feel better! Im no rain gear expert but I bought the OR Foray, its a 2 layer Goretex 50D. The dew point is a 3 layer 20D and is an advertised 4oz lighter. I wanted this piece to be my everyday winter shell and hunting rain gear/hardshell when it gets nasty. I will post back on it.
