Honestly (and surprisingly) one of the most accurate barrels I had was a Daniel defense lw 16 5.56 mid gasser. I had it in my black rain rifle on a bipod and got well under 1 moa. I shot a few hand loads of 77 smk and it was about half moa...I couldn't believe it. So I shot the same loads on...
There's not much else to improve. All they can really do is update risers to be compatible with more accessories and little things that are mostly cosmetic. The speeds haven't gotten better in years and the noise/vibration challenge has only got marginally better.
Second this....if not just get a new stock/chassis that fits your fancy. Those tikkas are great out of the box. Slap a good bipod on them and they're better than most rifles worth twice as much.
The best scope on the market (according to whoever you listen to) is not necessary the best for you and your application. Speaking from experience, I built a 308 mid range gun (solid out to 1k) that I also wanted to use for hunting. Long story short, 2 deer down and less than 75 yards of...
I've had pretty good luck with vortex products. The razor line of optics hasn't really let me down and their warranty is pretty much second to none. Just as long as you don't lose it somewhere....it'll be covered. I've had 2 scopes covered under warranty after a decent whoops in the field and it...
2 important things I've noticed that play a role shooting past 6-700. Stock fitment is huge, if you aren't comfortable....your body is going to be all out of whack and your ability to shoot consistently will be very low. Once comfort is sorted out, make sure your barrel is free floating from the...
Cutthroat single bevels. Not the sharpest out of the box, but you can have them sharpen them to be razor sharp. Doesn't matter to me, after dialing them in on the range, you should be sharpening them before a hunt anyway.
My black gold is great. Easy adjustments, great pin brightness, and the tape is visible on the inside of the bow. The tape placement was a big deal for me and that's why I didn't pick up a spot hog or anything that had the tape on the outside of the sight.
