    Objectively measuring sharpness

You can certainly check if a blade is sharp enough by checking for chatter on your nail, reflecting light or rubbing across your thumb. But is there a difference between sharp enough and really sharp? For example, will my arrow penetration be any different if I have a sharp enough blade or a...

    Objectively measuring sharpness

I’m falling down a blade sharpness rabbit hole and have been wondering how to objectively measure blade sharpness at home. I see people rubbing their finger over an edge and say “yep, that’s sharp” and I’ve seen people cut pieces of paper. Neither of those techniques are objective in anyway...

    Sharpening single bevel broadheads

Howdy all, When sharpening a knife, I push the knife with the cutting blade at the front. I don’t pull the knife. I find I can get my knives super sharp this way. All my knives are double bevel though. When I try and sharpen my single bevel broadheads like this though it doesn’t seem to work...

    Hunting Maui

Sweeeet. That is awesome to know. That may be exactly what I'm after. Maybe a few days hunting, Axis would be ideal, then a bit of RnR with the family. Probably give it a few months then start looking at booking a outfitter if that is the case.

    Hunting Maui

Hi all, Been thinking of a good overseas (I'm from Aus) hunting holiday for my 40th birthday mid to late next year. I was thinking of doing an elk hunt somewhere in Montana or a Tahr hunt in NZ, but considering the current unfolding tragedy in Maui thought I might change to a hunt in Maui to...

Which nock on release? Already have the nock 2 it

I have gone through similar thought process. I have a Nock 2 It. Shoot pretty well with it. Sometimes feel like I go through bouts of target panic and trigger punching. Its seems to come and go. The thing I can't seem to convince myself of though is how would using a Silver Back help me to NOT...

    Broadheads hitting left (but different)

So do you find that form issue are exacerbated with broadheads on?

    Broadheads hitting left (but different)

Yeah, I could do with a new string. I've got to give it to the bow. I've been flogging it through the NT bush with barely any maintenance or care and this is the first issue I've noticed and its only appeared in the last few months, if that. I pretty mush shoot it every day and hunt every second...

    Broadheads hitting left (but different)

Cable stretch will lower the draw weight leading to a relative increase in stiffness of the arrow?

    Broadheads hitting left (but different)

Thanks so much all. So much gold. Planned process: Move rest left. Seems counter intuitive but I'll give it a go. Check arrows on spinner. Check cam timing. Unlikely to be issue but worth a look. Send a couple of bare shafts down range. See what happens. I definitely got my bare shaft, BHs...

    Broadheads hitting left (but different)

Awesome. Thanks. I'll start working through this process. Massive list.

    Broadheads hitting left (but different)

I suppose I meant different in the sense not the usual rest movement. About 2-3 months ago FPs and BHs were really close, now they're not. Beauty. My BHs have been the same. I reckon I'm generally about 2 inches left at 30 yards. Its probably now too far for me to confidently hunt with.

    Broadheads hitting left (but different)

Interesting. I've definitely started a different gym routine that involves lifting way more.

    Broadheads hitting left (but different)

I’ve noticed my broad heads have been slowly drifting left over the last few months. Tried moving my rest right and broadheads are still left of field points. I appreciate it may be the string stretching, though current string has been on for two years, but wouldn’t this make my arrows stiffer...

    Broadhead tuning

What am I missing? BH hits high, lower rest. Makes sense. BH hits left (or right), move rest left (or right)? Won't this make the problem worse as the arrow is pointing further left (or right) as it is shot?

Aussie DIY hunt in the US

How difficult would it be for an Aussie to do a DIY, public land archery Elk hunt in the US? I've got the time for research, I plan on doing it in 2024, but don't really even know where to start. I was thinking about getting a guide but I've never done this and I like the idea of doing...

How far can you judge yardarge accurately?

I won't shoot an animal past 40 yards so my three pin sight works a treat. I always range too. I'm not confident enough not to. That said, I have practiced and thought about judging distances a lot after watching pros do it at some comp with incredible accuracy. In regards to pins, could you...
