    Favorite/best headlamp?

In my actual use, several Sofirn headlamps have been run down to around zero and pulled out of packs and other COLD storage locations (i.e. truck glove box, backpack, etc.) and they worked without issue I can remember. But when on the colder trails out to the goose hunts, I usually store the...

    Favorite/best headlamp?

They changed over to 99% USB-C about this time last year. Now I have a drawer full of micro-USB cords to add to my VGA and printer cord box started about 1996(?) And to all: I am glad that after 18 months so many folks have enjoyed the Sofirn lights mentioned here. There are many great brands...

Components shortages. Do you think it will end?

Materials and Labor are certainly a factor, but the oligopoly of very FEW suppliers needs to be "broke" to get to back to "fair market" pricing. These few mfgs. have consolidated the market over years (bought out others, limiting production runs, etc.) while also blocking imports these last...

    Danner Powderhorns 11EE

New in the box. Model #43143 1) I ran a light coat of boot cream on them when received (*** because ALL the Danner boots I've bought in many years come with scuffs from the factory- I don't get it). 2) I then wore them around the carpet in my office for a day. They didn't quite fit my bad...

    Favorite/best headlamp?

The large majority of Sofirn lights use USB C and have for years now. The only model I have (out of about 8 or so) that uses the older micro-USB cord are (all) the D25 headlamp versions. Glad all are enjoying their Sofirns!

Why you dont hunt with some people anymore

We can disagree... but when you say your have practiced, and you were offered chances to (really) practice- and did not... sorry but you are out. Got to "walk the talk" and I've taken youth and other hunters out over the years who DID practice and had good outcomes. My story on this particular...

Why you dont hunt with some people anymore

To clarify... the NEW guy had hunted with me several times (no deer seen) and was invited to practice his marksmanship while he passed (several times) stating he was "ready to go" (not). Yes, he was nervous like all new hunters, but if you "prepare" (like scouts?) you're going to be able to...

    Favorite/best headlamp?

I can save you a year... two years in fact. I've also owned several brands you mention above. I AGREE 100% with you "cheap" lights don't last long. But Sofirn doesn't MAKE a cheap light that I know of. Again, I am a small, local dealer who buys direct and I get nothing from Sofirn (*but...

The 1 Thing You Learned- Suppressors

I saw the "point" when I wrote what I did... I KNOW why they cost so much. I also know what manufacturing "scale" means... and that was my point (and still is).

Boot fit and break-in question from a noob

I had a VERY bad leg injury at 10. My left foot is 1/2 shorter (and more narrow) than my right. My cowboy boots I wore for most of 25 years after that almost immediately conformed to both my feet (after a few weeks of almost daily wear). There were LEATHER, and that's the key for my hunting...

Wondering if anyone on here has lived in Canada and the USA?

I've been trying to talk my wife into buying a cabin in Canada (Newfoundland- near the coast). We spend a few weeks up there back in 2918 and met SUCH nice people and land prices weren't too bad. But it gets cold... so wife still isn't convinced. The fishing and hunting seems to be good...

Why used prices on here so high?

My tax rate is ALSO 6 1/2%... BUT the online sellers ALWAYS charge over 8% these days.

Why used prices on here so high?

Gun Broker is worse ;) Just supply and demand. I've have a few items for sale (scopes and boots) that haven't got an offer in over a month- I don't top-post them daily, but every few weeks. I feel I'd be "over-posting" doing it any more frequently because this isn't primarily a "used...

    Favorite/best headlamp?

Thanks for the good field report Yooper! A few Sofirn buyers far have chimed in (including the original poster who also tried Sofirn). I'm glad for good reports so far. Always glad to help a hunter save a buck these days! Thanks guys!

    Coyote ar platform

Ya, the Valkyrie can do close to what the 22-250 can, but in the AR-15 form factor- it's WAY lighter (and less money to build for sure too). But the 223 was what I went with because I planned to shoot it a lot more that my other guns over time = less money and time reloading (*or paying $2 a...

    Coyote ar platform

Just a guess here... but if going for 22-250 ranges (way out there) maybe an FMJ bullet (two small holes)? I admit I'm not a hide hunter, but the 223 with the 40g V-max rarely leaves a hole on the back side... IF shot more than 150 yards out AND I don't hit the shoulder. Otherwise it CAN leave...
