Day pack for elk, mule deer and treestand hunting

I’ve had good luck with the MR pop up 28 last year. Packed out a whole whitetail in one trip. Seemed like was right on the edge of what it could handle so looking to get something with a more dedicated frame before going out in search of elk. Anyone have much experience with the Stryker XL...

    Brand of meat grinder

Got a LEM big bite 0.75 hp grinder last year and very happy with it. Will chew through anything I throw at it. Even used to grind up chicken bones when my dogs were on a raw diet.

    Broadhead

Going to shoot the 125gr grizzly stik Maasai again this year. Had good luck with single bevels last year on 2 whitetails and are easy to sharpen. Also been looking into VPA’s new single bevels.

    Buck eyesight

I’ve found that staying still makes more of a difference than specific camo. Been hunting with both ASAT ghillie suit and just flannel shirts with camo pants and haven’t noticed much of a difference in being spotted.

Whats the best boot for early/mid season whitetail?

I've been hunting in trail runners the past few years. Very breathable and lightweight if you can keep the pack weight down. I mainly saddle hunt so pretty lightweight compared to a stand.

    Indiana/ Kentucky public land

Plenty of whitetail in NKY area on the WMAs I've been to. Put some time in summer scouting and mark major intersections on maps like OnX to come back to in the fall. Nothing beats spending more time out in the woods.

You can now buy 4 sticks already cut down to 20 inches for around the same price. Mainly use for saddle hunting...
