I live and hunt in areas with a fairly high Grizzly population. How do you guys handle them? I know all the food handling and camping tactics, but what about when you are breaking down a kill? In the past year I have been anywhere from 10 yards to 500 yards from them and honestly the thought of...
Thanks guys, we would like to do some high country, like I said we want to backpack in and spend a few days. I will be hunting and scouting some different areas here in MT this year, so we will see how that goes.

My brother and I started talking about a mule deer trip in 2012, I even made a thread about it. But life gets in the way and each year we put it off. We have finally decided that 2018 will be the year, the downside is we haven't been putting in for points anywhere so we are only going to have...
I have an old lightweight Velbon camera tripod........but it's aluminum colored. It is not reflective but it is still silver. When glassing at distance, say 500 yards+, how much impact could that have on spooking animals? Glassing from a seated position, I have even thought about wrapping the...
Last weekend I made my first attempt at archery mule deer. It was a huge learning experience both in terms of the deer themselves as well as my pack set up and what I do and don't need. I went into this knowing how important glassing was, but the hardest part is trying to visualize a practical...
I have a Slumberjack bag that is a few years old. It's 0 rated (not like that's a precise number). I've used it in September with temps in the 30s at elevation and been perfectly toasty. I plan on hunting mostly early season in terms of camping. We have already gotten most of our precip for the...
I totally agree in certain situations. The deal is I am targeting a section of public land that gets pressure on the fringes, if I can get in and stay up high for a couple nights I am hoping to get away from the less ambitious hunters.

I am trying to get set up for my first season of hunting out of my pack. This will mainly involve 2-3 day trips, there's always the possibility of a longer trip though. That being said I'm on a budget..... I need a shelter, eventually I would like a nice tent but it's not in the cards this...
How would this handle lashing a bow to the pack? It looks like you could capture the riser and bottom limb and leave the string outside the straps?
I wonder what a double sided blaze/coyote would look like.....
