I highly suggest you look at a Savage 110 Magpul Hunter in 6.5 Creedmoor. It comes with an 18” threaded barrel, 20 moa rail and takes AICS mags.
I shoot 147 gr ELD-M ammo (0.697 bc) through it and it’s ridiculously accurate for a $700 rifle.
705 yard target below.

I used to reload all my own rifle ammo.
But I don’t have the time or reloading equipment set up these days.
It’s so nice just to go buy ELD-M ammo and go shoot. And it shoots damn good in my 6.5 creedmoor and the 6.5 PRC rifle we have on the ranch.
My Defiance Ruckus arrives next week. I...
Thank you for posting this! I feel this often gets overlooked when choosing a big game cartridge & ammo. Here are some common examples of cartridges and ammo choices for comparison:
Black Hills 5.56 77 TMK at 2750 fps & bc .420
Hornady 6mm creedmoor 108 ELD-M at 2960 fps & bc .536
Hornady 6.5...
I shot a 180” muley near a property line and I had to shoot the damn thing 5 times with monos before I was satisfied it was down for good. Granted it was my first muley and by far my biggest buck, but I wasn’t let him cross the fence.
I don’t shot monos anymore due to this.

You’re the first person I’ve heard say a NXS was terrible to look through. Was it damaged?
You say your ten mile smoked it, but it’s nothing special.
With your logic a NXS is equivalent to a $199 scope sold at a box store.
I’m calling bullshit here on your evaluation of an NXS.

I don’t understand the point of your post here.
In your original post you suggest a different cartridge than 300 win mag. Last time I checked a 300 win mag is extremely capable of killing out to 500 yards and beyond.
I think we have done a good job of derailing the OP’s thread here..
To the...
Are you running a SAAMI chamber or ???
I have only shot up to 208 grains in a win mag. I’ve got 245 Bergers to shoot in my PRC.
Good luck and keep posting your results.

Reamers can go 100 barrels but..
It depends on the quality of the reamer, the barrel steel, lubrication and most importantly the person running the lathe.
In a bad setup; a man can break or ruin a reamer in short order.
There are too many variables to give you a better answer than that.

I’ve shot a lot of the factory 145 ELD-X ammo out to 800 yards. It doesn’t have the best bc and the wind blows it around more than I prefer.
I just received a 26” McGowen 8 twist barrel to shoot the 170 Bergers out of. This will be shot out to 1k and beyond but will have to wait until I get my...
The difference between the Amax and ELD-M is only the plastic formulation in the tip.
The jacket and core are the same construction so on game performance will be the same.

The 77 TMK is showing a bc of .420.
There are several 6.5 caliber bullets with a bc over .600.
There will simply be less wind drift with the larger caliber, higher bc bullets.
If I’m shooting 300+ yards on a windy day then no way in hell do I want a .223 rifle in my hands. My wind calls...
I absolutely love shooting an accurate and low recoiling .223 but I can’t ever see myself carrying one on a mule deer or elk hunt.
My kids and I have certainly killed several whitetail deer with a suppressed .223 off my back porch but our field of fire was limited to 220 yards.
No doubt a .223...
I really like your setup. The Savages I’ve shot are very accurate and I love the XLR Element. And I think your caliber is about perfect for the weight of the rifle. 30-06 ammo is as common as dirt and Lapua makes brass if you want to reload your own ammo.
Very impressive that it’s 8.4# scope...
