    I've been seriously wet out in wool, and in fleece. Being wet out, and exposed to steady, cold wind is not fun. It's less fun in fleece.

    I won't buy anything with a hood. A detachable hood on a sh*t weather jacket can be helpful and is the only occasional exception to the rule, but generally speaking I can't stand hoods especially when attached to every clothing layer.

    What was the sun like? Was it making the clothing shine? I find synthetic clothing quite reflective/ glossy. Any exposed skin, then obviously movement and noise. Could just be bad luck.

    Depending on how far on she is I'd perhaps not let her go. 5-7 months pregnant depending. If it's 7 there is no chance I'd let her. I got two kids but we've had ten pregnancies. Good luck to the three of you.
