    Barnes 308 168g ttsx issues

We had some issues with the PH2 doing the same thing. Call them and they will likely replace the lighter firing pin and offer a heavier firing pin spring.

    questions on revic BR4

That is normal. With no base wind entered, and Spin drift, Aero and Corriolis on, they do not activate until you enter a wind vector and speed. At that point all are engaged and will be part of the solution.

Berger vld hunting vs vld target

Targets have a slightly thicker jacket than the H VLD's. They will hold together slightly better with higher velocity impacts on game on the closer shots. This will result in them having a higher low velocity expansion threshold. If you are set to hunt with a 7, go for it, but I would keep...

    338 terminator +p barrel life

As I stated back then, with names of who said stated that to me, it was just what I was told. I have to this day never used up a barrel on a 300 win mag. But I didn't then, and do not now claim to have anywhere near the round count Tim North and Joe Starnes told me they had. Believe what you...

    338 terminator +p barrel life

I did a little searching today too. SAM that built one right after I did had the same results and I believe also went back to the 300 win mag. There is data out there that supports what I saw. I will admit I still have a bad taste in my mouth from the first barrel that made for a very...

    338 terminator +p barrel life

That is a pretty good charge. I was shooting 82.2 grains in mine according to my notes. The Cryo treatment interests me. It is said there are other desirable traits that go with the process too.

    338 terminator +p barrel life

I just looked through some notes and can not confirm the round count on the second barrel. But my memory thinks it was 350 to 400. But could have been less. I had several 30 cal CA barrels. All shot great but these were the only ones I burnt up before I sold the rifles they were on.

    338 terminator +p barrel life

So many barrels ago. But you are jogging my memory here. I think the second one was looking bad at an early count, like 350 or 400, so I guess I didn't toss that one. I set it back and chambered it 30 Lapua AI for another rifle. Then went to 300 Win with a carbonsix on that rifle and ran it...

    338 terminator +p barrel life

I have two of them in the carbon wrapped version. Alex Wheeler is building me a 30 Lapua Improved off his reamer design. I usually just do two barrels when I build something like that. If it was a Nosler I would do 3. :ROFLMAO:

    Berger 205 EH vs 210 VLD's

Don't forget there are 208's and 220's now too from Berger. My concerns are your velocity. That is way low for a 75 gr charge with a 215. Is it a real short barrel? If the barrel is 24 or 26" you should be seeing closer to 2850. If you haven't seen pressure signs yet , I would keep going up...

    338 terminator +p barrel life

The current .338 Terminator is steel. But I have and still do use both. My 300 Terminators are carbon. I never get my barrels hot. Three shot strings are the most I will comfortably shoot a magnum. I am a hunter first. Only shoot a few matches a year. Have used both steel and carbon wrapped in...

    338 terminator +p barrel life

Yeah we need to compare notes on this as we go forward. That is exactly the same performance I am getting from my 26" 300 win Mag +P with a charge well below max in a wide node. Two different ways to get like performance. I am at 350 rounds and throat has only moved a few thousands at first...

    338 terminator +p barrel life

Nope. We have owned 4 of them now in 338 Terminator counting the one I had Shawn build last fall. Its a 26" and the load is 105.8 gr of 570 with a 300 Berger @ 3000 fps. The others were 31 and 32" tubes running from a soft 3050 to another at 3160 and my old mile Bear killer at 3198. It had...

168 Berger from chamber throated for 195s

I tried the 180 Hybrids also that season, they too were more explosive. The 180 VLD or 180 H VLD held together better. Lower impact velocities would help with these issues I am sure, but I would just change bullets if I could get them.

168 Berger from chamber throated for 195s

We killed a couple dozen elk with them the year of the management hunt. They were plenty explosive from a 7-300 win mag with a MV of 2950. I personally would NOT open the tips. Shots from 250 to 450 they often took two. This does not mean the elk were not going to die from shot one. But the...

The Most Overlooked Part of a Rifle Build

On the rails the aluminum is too thin under the screws and it bends (sucks down) allowing the rail to come loose. Then, if retorqued it will fail again very soon as all you are doing is tightening one small spot of the rail under the screws and the rest of the rail has no clamping force.
