I misspoke! I have a Unit 23 tag. Sounds like it’ll still be tough but from everything I’ve read I should find some. If you know anything about that unit I’m all ears!

Heck of a deer! AZ is one of my favorite places to hunt. Hopefully the late archery elk season in 13 will give me some similar luck

How did scouting go Mark? I should draw a deer tag there next year but want to make sure it’s not a waste. I’ve scouted during the off-season but hope to get there this year during the season to do the same thing you did for elk.
Curious to hear how your hunt goes! Thought I’d draw it this year but should for sure next year. I have hiked around the area just north of Rangely and it looks promising. I have a feeling the northern part of the unit below DNM could be the place to be though. Some great bucks have been seen...
May be to late for your hunt but avoid 18. Unit 28 could be good this year however. I screwed up on leftover day and put in the unit 18 muzzleloader code and realized it the week before the hunt. Went anyways but everything was closed and scorched for the most part.
Hunted this unit this year during muzzleloader season and was real disappointed in the open access due to the fire. Land was extremely scorched with minimal growth and the few areas that the fire didn’t hit had way too many hunters.
OnX seems quite accurate for the 4 years I’ve used it. A BLM map is harder to navigate but is likely exactly on if it’s current. In areas where land has changed hands quite a few times, I’ve noticed it takes 1+ years for OnX to update the landowners.
Drew this tag this year (2021) and will hopefully be making a trip in Late October before the middle of November season to scout. Curious how/where water is this year and where the best areas to focus on would be. Know it will be a tough hunt but want to at least give myself a chance and do...
