Bought my first T3X last fall in 6.5 creed, used it for 2 MT antelope and 2 PA whitetail. Became a big fan and just recently picked up the roughtech in 308. Only have one box through the roughtech so far but looks promising, the creedmoor loves 143 eldx's.
Browning atacs AU lot for sale. All 2xl, but this is Browning's "hero fit" and runs small, fits like an xl.
All worn on a couple hunts, no rips, tears or stains on any items. All buttons and zippers function as new.
Includes the outer shell with zip hood, puffy insulator jacket and rain jacket...
In a hunting situation I wouldn't worry about holding under at 100 yds, crosshair in middle of vitals, let out breath and squeeze.
I still zero for 200 with a tactical scope, out to 300 no need to adjust the turret. 6-8" hold over for 300, no meessing around with dials needed. Only dial for...
Cabelas used to offer wool bibs and coat with gore tex, it was water and windproof but way to heavy to want to use on a western mountain hunt. I have the bibs and wish I'd gotten the coat at the time. Heavy but incredibly warm, only get worn in winter and only on stand hunts.
A good tight...
Wool served mankind for thousands of years.
It's an excellent insulation even when wet. I still use it for waterfowl hunting and stand hunting whitetails.
It is itchy and you have to be careful cleaning, but nothing wrong with it at all.
No multiplication math involved, and not a high cost to apply. If you have 10 points your name goes in 10 times, 1 point, 1 time. Same cost to apply as get a point. Only time I selected point only was when I was traveling to MT the week of rifle season.
Several guys at work have drawn cow tags...
You're on the right track with planning on getting out early. We were out the door by 6am on the days we headed to Cades Cove and Cherokee. I would have preferred even earlier, but gotta compromise with mama.
After 9am or so, the park fills up fast. We saw bear, elk, deer and turkey in our...
What's not to like about a controlled round mauser action? My dad is a Winchester guy, and I developed an appreciation as well. I have two featherweights, 243 and 270. The 243 is a classic stainless, one of the last New Haven guns made. It will shoot sub MOA but is picky about what loads it...
Early plantings are snow peas, lettuce, spinach and onions.
Perennials are asparagus, strawberries and raspberries.
Later I love my green peppers, beefsteak tomatoes and yellow and green squash.
I'm into year 4 of a small orchard project. Have planted Asian pear, pear, apple, cherry and peach...
Gun gets a wipe down after a trip out, but bore only gets cleaned after the season is over. I find it usually takes a few shots after cleaning the bore to get it to settle in.
If you are maxing out your 401k with a 9% match, you are way ahead of the vast majority of people. You have 25 years to let it build. If you keep that level of contribution up for another 25 years you'll be sitting on a pile. Between SS and your wife's pension, you should already be set for...
The Vanguard is a two stage trigger, takes a little getting used to. That said, the trigger breaks nicely, zero creep and is adjustable. I have a Vanguard First Lite in 6.5-300 Wby, it shoots 1/2 MOA with Weatherby factory ammo. I have been impressed with the Vanguard for it's price point...
Took my son along hunting starting at 10. He is in college now and seems to be getting out of it, he may return later, he may not. He never got bit with the hunting bug like I did. He still comes along fishing.
When they are little, make it about them. Short trips are best, make sure they've...
Slow is smooth, smooth is fast.
Don't rush, take a breath, same shot you've taken plenty of times in practice.
1st year out, I wouldn't be too selective. As stated above, take an animal and get some experience under your belt. They all eat great regardless of antler size.
My favorite whitetail cartridge is the 7mm-08. I enjoy using different (new toys) as the mood strikes though. This year taking a 6.5-300 WBY along to MT to hopefully hook up with a whitetail.
