Ethics in hunting, the story of my once in a lifetime Buck....

Can definitely be a taco if its folded over. If the ends are tucked in then its a burrito. Wraps are something flat bill wearing millennials eat.

    "pretty" rifles

I have a few that I really like. I'm a sucker for laminates. Recently I replaced the ugly boat paddle stock on my late fathers Ruger with a new Boyds. A very old pic of another Ruger with a laminate My Rem 700 elk rifle with a laminate My Rem 700 CDL SF that my dad used on his Tule elk hunt

    Remembering how I got here.

After posting about helping to keep my dad hunting for several more years I was thinking about starting a post just like this to those that got us into hunting, I'm glad Pd did. For me it was my dad. He was a life long deer hunter here in California so it was natural for me to start hunting...

Why you dont hunt with some people anymore

That became my hunting life for about the last 5 years of my dad's life. His age caught up to him and he began to develop dementia. He lived for hunting though and I knew it would kill him quickly to take that away from him so I made changes to how I hunted so I could keep him in the field for...

Why you dont hunt with some people anymore

Dumped a few, no big issues, mostly not being prepared or way to much whining. Have a great hunting partner who I have hunted with since about 2008 for deer locally and has been going to Colorado for elk with me since 2012 and we're on the same page. Lost my dad in 2018, really miss hunting...

What other addiction(s) do you have?

That's a Sevengill that was 8.5', probably 150-200 lbs. We have caught them up to the 10 ft range and well into the 300 lb mark but havn't killed any of them. They pull really hard but aren't really fast so big capacity reels aren't needed but I use two speed reels for the low gear ratio. The...

Translating aerial imagery to real life w/little western experience!

I’ve hunted one area in Colorado for 20 years so I know it well. Every year before we head out we pick out two or three spots on Google Earth that we want to go check out during scouting. We still get surprised by how different things look on the ground compared to what we believed it to look...

Third season CO, to camp or not

We tent it during the third every year. In a wall tent with a wood stove it’s actually very comfortable. We use 0 degree bags and sleep quite comfortably.
