Basically what was said above is mostly correct. I bought a point in ‘21 and ‘22 but because i didn’t apply in ‘22 i lost the ‘21 point (i think that new rule applying immediately is a little messed up but what’s done is done.)
I applied last year but didn’t select the option to buy a point. So...
Update everyone: I’m a dumbass and if you run into the same problem you’re probably one too.
Lady on the phone was super nice and helped me with a different issue as well.
I am extremely confident that I had two points in last years application. However, i don’t think i can verify that anymore unless there’s a way to access those results that I’m unaware of. I’ll bother them tomorrow and see what they say.
Last year I entered the draw with 2 preference points and was one of the unlucky few who didn't draw with that.
I just popped onto My FWP in advance of applying tomorrow and noticed my account only has ONE preference point. Anyone know what might be going on or do I need to get on the horn with...
I agree with the OP of this post, as someone who pocketed $1000 to grab tags for family friends, it’s an inherently broken system and i think that it should be changed. It’s crazy that i can be standing in line for someone and they can be on their phone in the digital line to gamble and see if...
Similar question. I’m doing my own and I’ve simmered this mature buck for a long time, first with baking soda and then dawn. I don’t want the bones to get too fragile and everything has cleaned up pretty well except for some persistent areas within the sinuses.
I’ve tried jetting in there with...
I would if i ever found myself in that position, but I have enough friends who don’t hunt but like venison that there’s always more to share. Some years im stingey with them but I’d love to drop of a whole elk at a buddies house.
Yeah, I’m all too acquainted that last years winter kill, this particular region didn’t get hammered though and there are a LOT of does and fawns.
My dad ended up taking a doe a couple days later, after a close opportunity that didn’t pan out on a small buck.
We had a couple more days for...
I hear ya. My dad had me young so he’s only 20 years my senior but my grandpa, who had a huge influence on the both of us as outdoorsmen, passed a couple years back and was in bad health for a long time before that.
I keep that in mind when my dads on my nerves with his pissing and moaning...
I think that’s true of all hunting and something i think about a lot, the separation between larger strategy, tactics in the moment, and execution are what makes it such an amazing experience.
In this case all of them came together favorably and i couldn’t be happier.
My dad and I planned a hunt in an area we’ve both been, I’ve hunted elk here and he’d got a decent 3x4 five years ago. I live in Idaho now and he’s back in Wisconsin so in addition to being an area we know, is somewhere in the middle for us to meet up.
Day 2.5 of the hunt and we’d seen a...
Well i disagree with your assessment of who’s the more effective predator, through math alone were far more effective and have a way bigger disturbance.
I’m in east idaho and have a couple decades experience in northern, WI where wolf numbers are high. I’ve noticed that once the snow falls and...
I thought i had read august 8th on a FWP Facebook post but now i can’t find it, so i could have been wrong.
Elk posted two days early so that’s why i thought we’d see it today.
