Ahhhhh. I fell victim to buying the SAS. Had thought about making my own but couldn’t find a measurement of the SAS itself. I always have paracord on me but I figured it would stretch too much. Glad to hear the d loop worked well for this. Thanks for the tip!
200 would definitely be what I’d go with. I’m running 250s with 78.2lb draw @ 30” with arrows cut to 29” and 150 grains up front. With the longer draw length and arrow length, I can’t see 250s being quite enough spine. Especially with any amount of weight up front.
Longer draw length and...
Like others said. It is way stiff. Overspining is better than under spining in my eyes but will cause a right tear. Therefore compromising your arrow flight compared to what it could be. If that is going to be your hunting set up for any length of time, I’d put in the effort to get that thing...
I think too many people worry about the numbers side of the game and it compromises their arrow flight and grouping.
Personally I wouldn’t slam a metric shit ton of weight up front to hit that goal and call it good. Figure out what you are shooting and what spine you need. Mess around with...
As everyone else has said. Shoot them. Shoot as many as possible. This isn’t something someone else can pick for you. Im a Mathews guy. But that’s just what feels best for me.
I shoot mine in. The problem I see with the “template” idea is that if you bow shoots 280 fps with the chronograph a couple feet from your bow, depending how well tuned your arrows are, your arrow flight could cause quite a variable in fps by the time it hits the target magnified by range. Where...
I noticed my archery improved a lot when I started to tune my own arrows and bow. I attribute it largely to getting a better understanding of the equipment and achieving better arrow flight but nothing beats practicing as much as you can in my mind.
