As a Nevada resident, I’d say that it used to be amazing here as a resident big game hunter, both for amount of opportunities and chances to go on true trophy hunts. However, population growth and major drought have changed things dramatically here. The shear number of applicants is staggering...
I know a lot of traditional muzzleloader hunters consider this sacrilegious, but I purchased a Traditions Nitrofire last year and I freaking love it. I know it's not legal in every state, but it is in Nevada, and it was everything I hoped it would be last year on an Antelope hunt and then some...
I wish I would have spent more time before the hunt researching elk--particularly watching videos of bulls. I spent so, so much time working on being in incredible physical shape to handle any of the physical demands such as packing out the elk by myself, but I honestly feel like some of that...
Awesome!
It will definitely be hot, but if you find good water, you could be in luck. I would recommend spending some time scouting the Pequops. We've hunted there in the past and there are some BIG bucks in there and it is really thick P&J. Good luck and have fun!
I have hunted in different Danners over the years, and I've always been happy. I would also recommend an American boot manufacturer named Thorogood, as well. I'm a framing carpenter and I stumbled across these boots a few years back and they are like slippers for my feet. I wear them 8+ hours...
I have not hunted 51 archery, but I've been on numerous 51 rifle hunts. Camping can be kind of brutal, but we have always had success in the hills north of Paradise, rather than in the flats. Water is key. I'd recommend reaching out to the biologist to see if they can turn you on to some...
I don't see too many people throwing this suggestion out there, but I would absolutely recommend Alps Outdoorz. I have the Commander X + Pack and it has been amazing. I've used it on many hunts (Elk, Antelope, Mule Deer) and have loaded it with more than 100 lbs many times and it has never...

I have frequented this forum for quite a long time and can't even begin to say how much I appreciate all of the incredible information here.
I was incredibly lucky, and shocked, when I was notified recently that I had been selected as a winner of the monthly Cameraland NY...
