I haven't been back up since last weekend's scout.
The rains will definitely keep things moist and flowing until I am able to get up there for my rifle hunt.
S20 owner here in 300WM. I hunt with the precision stock, which is slightly heavier than the hunter stock, but deadly accurate. They guarantee sub MOA out of the box.
New carbon stock will be nice to reduce the weight..
Have you tried the S20 precision stock? It has a more of a traditional rifle shape.
It is slightly heavier, but isn't as clunky as the hunter stock. It is what I use chambered in 300WM.
That still sounds like a good time. No bucks sighted for me.
There was something walking around near our camp in the middle of the night, but I didn't go out to see what it was. Small, light footprints, so I was thinking a deer, not bear, since we did see some deer sign only a 100 yards or so...
I just got back yesterday from scouting the Mendocino NF.
I ended up having to change locations from where I escouted, since a large downed tree and a locked gate blocked the only 2 paths into the area. I ended up driving to another area I had chosen previously about an hour and a half north of...

I plan to be exploring and still hunting the brush and valley...
Hey All,
I am headed out tomorrow for a final scouting trip for blacktail bucks out in B3 section on Mendocino NF. It has been pretty hot around here with the many recent heat waves (3 in the past month, and Record heat this past weekend), so I'm a bit worried about the area we have been...
I use one sitting tripod for my binos and spotter. It's the blackovis treeline carbon sitting at 30oz with the pan head.
Quality of the pan head is not the best, so I will probably replace it next with a smoother operating one. But I do all of my glassing sitting so this small lightweight...
I have found that a properly timed and torqued muzzle brake doesn't really get loosened when taking shots at the range, or packing in/out with the occasional shot at game. So I don't use loctite at all when running muzzle brakes.
That said, don't really use a muzzle brake anymore for some...
